I purchased/ picked up on 05/17/23 (2) 31P batteries online and picked them up at Batteries Plus The 2 Batteries were for my emergency generator. After installing the new batteries and then operating the generator, it seemed like the batteries may have been low on charge, because the generator turned over a little slow. I then let the generator run for about a half hour to give the batteries a little more charge. We test operate the generator every 7 to 10 days, when I went to test run the generator again the same thing occurred, the generator started slow/hard. At this point got a CCA digital meter to test the CCAs, the CCAs should be at 950. They tested at 870 and 855. At this point I called the store and I was told that I had to bring in the batteries to them for them to test. (It was a good thing that I didn't turn in the old Traveller batteries. Which I tested and their CCAs were at 950 and 940.) (Thats why I always keep the old batteries for back up, just in case there is an issue with the new batteries. With an emergency generator you need to replace the batteries every 2/3 year even if the batteries are still working well!)When I brought them back to the store and explained to the ******************************* the General Manager of the store. (What I wrote above.) He said we don't trust digital meters and then tested the batteries with his analog tester and said the batteries were good. I told him I re-installed the old batteries and the generator fired right up.He told me to leave the batteries would re-charge them. When I went back to pick up the batteries, they told me that the batteries brought them were 2 years and that I didn't buy them there.I did purchase these batteries from this location, I purchased them for the company I work for *************** and we installed them into our clients generator and our client is the DEA.We do not need free batteries and we have never used or purchased this model battery before.

      Complaint: 20297381

I am rejecting this response because: I have only purchased batteries from Batteries Plus one time and these are the batteries I purchased in May. There wasn't any round dated stickers on the batteries when I picked them up.  Also, these batteries do not have the correct CCA's that are specified on the batteries. He states that the batteries were tested and are good, when I went to pick up the batteries I tested the batteries with my digital meter and the tested below the CCA's of 950. That's when **** the ** manager said what do you want there 2 years old. So, how did he test them to good then with a reply like that? I have a picture of the batteries the next after I picked them up and installed them and you can see in there wasn't any date stickers on them. These batteries look brand new and have bar codes on them, can't someone from ** scan the code bar to see where these batteries came from? I think that would clarify things,. I'm willing to take these batteries to a different ** store to have this done. Also, I am willing to take a lie detector test! Is the store manager and the store sales person that actual sold me the batteries willing to do the same thing???

      Regards,

All SLI manufactured batteries by East Penn in our stores have the circular black sticker with white print showing the month and year of manufacture. As mentioned in initial response,  in-store batteries are monitored on a regular basis by store associates, managers, and East Penn account reps.  The batteries have been tested using two different tools with the ultimate test being the carbon pile test which is the standard of the industry.  This particular testing device actually puts a physical load on a battery to verify it's health status. Both batteries passed multiple tests and are within factory specs.

      Complaint: 20297381

I am rejecting this response because: The batteries ** sold me, as stated by ** manager the batteries are 2 years old, so, I can't use them in the *** emergency generator due to their age. Plus, the batteries CCA's are too low to turn over the emergency generator, even if they were in date. I have pictures of the original batteries I purchased from **; these are the batteries they sold me in May of this year. This location needs to be investigated. I don't care what they say they check; they don't do what they are explaining. I have people a the *** facility that will confirm my story. Please scan the bar codes on these batteries to track them.

      Regards,
