My granddaughter was born five years ago. Just before the Covid-19 crisis hit, and the country shut down. I purchased tickets to fly to **, to meet my new grandbaby, but due to a family issue, had to change my tickets. Mind you, I had trip insurance and had to pay extra to be able to change my flights. I was told I could not change my flights... I had to purchase another ticket. No, they did not refund my money. $600 dollars. They did issue a flight voucher... Then covid hit and as I worked for the Department of the Army, I was on a travel restriction for the next two years. During that time, I contacted American Airlines and was told that my voucher was good, and they would honor it, no matter what. No, they would not refund my money. Over the last five years, I have contacted them multiple times, requesting a refund. They refuse to refund my money (despite trip insurance). They now refuse to honor my travel voucher "we aren't giving, or honoring, vouchers for the disruptions from the covid travel restrictions'.Given their bottom line, that $600.00 wouldn't even be a blip in their budget. But it would make a huge difference in my budget. American Airlines STOLE that money, refuse to give it back and only quote 'policy' as to why they cannot return it. After five years, you would think they would realize that even federal employees live on budgets. Shame on them!****************************. I honestly hope that how they treated me, and many others, comes back to them multiplied. All I wanted was my money returned. $600.00 isn't anything to them, but it would mean a lot to me.
