They came out two years ago and replaced a broken spring, advising that we could use a single, lighter spring to save money. I just had someone else come out to look at the opener and they stated that the spring was far too light for the door. It drops like a guillotine when disconnected from the opener, which is not right. The crack in the door may also be attributable to the wrong spring they put in. When I called to get their side, they were adamant I would have to pay $50 to have them come out and see if they did indeed make a mistake!Review from Timothy W

Phoned to schedule service at my home. $50 service fee to come agreed to. On arrival, explained door will go down partly and come back up. Explained suspect a sensor problem, especially since lights on sensors intermittent. Left technician alone to perform what I thought would be search for diagnosis of the problem. Notified 10 minutes later a contract has to be signed to further explore what the problem is - as it could be sensors, wires, circuit board in unit, or even the motor. When I demonstrated for the technician that I could close the door by pressing and holding button, he seemed surprised to learn the motor is fine. I'm at a loss as to what the technician did to investigate the problem for 10 minutes after I initially left him alone. I presumed the $50 fee would pay for identifying the problem. I was never forewarned when scheduling the appointment a contract would have to be signed to identify the problem. It was explained to me that a contract has to be signed prior to identifying the problem as "thats the only way he can get paid", and "it protects him if he breaks anything". A contract once estimated repair cost would be OK with me. He was discharged from the job. Called to complain to company, feeling it was not reasonable to pay $50 and without being able to identify the source of door malfunction. They explained they only do scheduling for OGD, and do not represent the company (same number called to schedule the appt). They will pass my concern onto the company. I was called by a company representative later that day, who listened to my details. She said she would call the technician and his manager and get their version of events, and respond to me with a disposition on the matter. I never heard back from her. A local company hired later that day immediately found the faulty wiring on a sensor, and repaired it in 15 min for a reasonable cost. These are the facts. My personal interpretation - a deceptive/dishonest business model. Buyer beware.Review from David D

Cheating on replacement of springs: OGD at a branch of ***** ** I recently had a spring broken. Then two guys came and recommended for replacement of both springs. They then charged me for replacing both springs. After they left, we discovered that they only replaced one spring with new one, while another one remains a used one, instead of a new one. Then we called and emailed the company customer service with the pictures, but it was not working. They always tried to deny and refused to fix the problems. The photos of two replaced springs are attached. Clearly, one is new, while another one is still a used part even after the replacement.Don't be fooled by the overall rating, and be aware of its cheating !!Review from Cliff G

Customer called OGD out, agreeing to our $50 service call for inspection and diagnosis. Once we got onsite and presented options for repair to address customers garage door issues, he accused the technician of a pretty awful act in regards to the price, that I wont repeat here, well as telling us he would not spend a dollar over $125. ************** was able to approve the same work at a discounted cost of $150, however the customer told him to leave at that point and refused to pay the agreed upon service call. OGD has not done any work for or with this customer, however we did try and work with the customer on the cost of repairs needed.Review from Julie D

What a frustrating experience! First of all I had a scheduled appointment on Monday and took off work in the afternoon to meet technician for a broken spring but had to reschedule for Tuesday am because technician did not have part needed at that time. Spoke with technician Tuesday am upon arrival and asked to also replace the 2 multi control wall LiftMaster units as plastic cover on each had been cracked but units were still functional. Cost to replace each unit "wall station" $139, or $278 for both. When I came home following spring repair/replacement and replacement of the 2 "wall stations" I literally found what I can ONLY describe as 2 doorbell style garage door openers on the wall where the multi function control panels had been (lock/light/open and close feature). Having paid invoice I contacted OGD Wednesday am expressing my frustration and was told that technician did not have the exact replacement so installed "door bell" style. Had technician called and told me he did not have a proper replacement to replace existing control units and would DOWNGRADE my existing control units I would have never authorized the replacement. Now OGD had said they will schedule another appointment to change out to control units that match what was existing and I will have to take off yet more time from work.Review from Mark R

I needed a broken spring replaced cause my car was stuck in the garage. The tech showed up and began wanting me to pick a PLAN. The plan he recommended was $779.00 which included 2 springs, only needed 1 and new rollers and a 5 year warranty. He would not start work without me signing for it. Once I signed, he had me. I asked him about the 5 year warranty as to what happens if a spring breaks. He said, we replace it. I asked how much it would cost me, he said that I would only pay a $50 dollar trip fee, which is ridiculous. I was ok with that until later I realized that he didnt tell me that it was a 5 year parts and 30 days labor only. . The only way that I could see his plan was on his cell phone which as I tried to read he held the phone and his fingers were going from right to left on the phone because the words didnt fit in the screen. Not a very professional way of reading a contract. When I realized my mistake on signing this contract of $779 for 2 springs which are about $50 dollars a piece and the rollers are about $25 dollars after talking to another door company, they said that the whole job should not have been but about $300.00. I called customer service and talked to a very rude and unprofessional woman who told me that I signed for it, sorry!!! And then she hung up on me. She said that the tech made a mistake by not telling me about the 30 day labor only warranty. She also refused to send me a detailed statement showing parts and labor charges and I wonder why!! She told me that a supervisor would call me and that never happened. Called again today and a supervisor was supposed to call but never did. Once they have your money, they are done with you. The tech did get a 5 before he left my driveway, but gets a zero after I realized I was scammed. I want half my money back. It is only fair because you were so high on price and I wasnt told right on the warranty. I would have told him to leave if the truth was told to me!Review from Africa P
