    Put my 2007 Chevy Aveo LS 1.6L 4Cyl Gas engine car in for repairs to replace Water Pump, Gasket, CBA COOLING SYSTEM FLUID EXCHANGE SERVICE (their recommendation) and Timing Belt and ended up paying over $1000 for a car that now won’t run at all. The car had overheated less a mile from my house and was leaking water when we shut it off. Hoses and clamps were fine so we replaced the radiator, thinking that was the problem, and started it up. Then noticed overflow tank leaking and replaced it which exposed the leaking water pump as the real problem. I didn’t have the tools or ability to do it myself so I called to discuss repair options. I requested a tow truck to pick it up so as not to cause any further damages to the engine. The tow truck driver drove the car up on the ramp and secured it. When I picked up the car they insisted on pulling up to the door even though I said I could do it so it was running when I got it. I noticed that the car had poor acceleration and was sluggish. I took it back the next day to express my concerns, as well as asking about a water sample with particulate from the overflow tank, and was told the fluid was their 50/50 premix coolant and the lack of acceleration was because it hadn’t adjusted to the new timing belt but would get better the more I drove. Accepting the mechanic at his word, I drove the car back home. It became harder and harder to start and the last time my wife got it started it went from cold to very overheated in less than ¼ mile. After researching options I agreed to send it back in for them to check out and requested a wrecker. Same wrecker driver came and had to winch the car onto the wrecker bed. Later I get a call saying it’s either the head gasket or worse and recommended a repair that would cost $4,565.97, in addition to the $1,000+ I already paid them, on a car worth about $1,000. They failed to accept any responsibility that they might have unintentionally done something to cause the problem. His excuse was that the car had overheated “multiple times”, 2 = multiple, while downplaying the fact the second time it overheated was AFTER they did the repairs on the car. Instead of getting answers, all I got was excuses and denials including a reference to a case of he said, she said and that I couldn’t prove anything in court.
