            Beginning in June 2024, Backyard Butchers, LLC began receiving complaints and reviews that exhibited a pattern.

             

            Consumer complaints and reviews allege the meat packages they receive from the company are not a good quality. The meat is grisly, tough, defrosted and inedible and had to be thrown away. When they reached out to the company, they are directed to the Facebook page to request a refund as the tent and trucks the packages were receive from are gone.

            This place has tents and trucks standing in parking lots advertising 20 ribeye for 40$, bulk deals on premium steaks, chicken and seafood. On May 29, 2024, I purchased the said 20 ribeye for 40$ and the bulk deal of seafood for 164.85 All mentioned products are FROZEN When I tried to cook the fish and salmon, I defrosted it and they were ROTTEN. I SAVED SAMPLES OF EACH ITEM FOR NEEDED TESTING. Immediately, I researched the company and found the proper entity name.

            I was dumb enough to buy a case in Middleton, WI. The small and flat "steaks" fell apart already in the pouches once defrosted. And on a closer look, they still have membranes in them. Some of them are very dark and grayish in color. But they call it Prime USDA. And they also solicit for tips on top of the ridiculous price you paid. Also defrosted two of the s.c. "pepper steaks." These didn't fall apart, but they were not as thick as they looked, because they were folded. On the inside of the fold, they were literally gray in color. And once any of their meat is defrosted it has ridiculous amounts of moisture! I have been freezing all kinds of meat - steaks, ground meat, poultry, seafood, etc. But upon being defrosted, it never EVER had so much water in it; or if not water, whatever it is. Definitely, not blood - too light in color. So much liquid! The ground meat also looks very questionable. Very light in color. One can only wonder what that "ground meat" contains. Also membranes? Or cartilage? I honestly not sure if I should even try to cook and eat it. Maybe it would be much safer just to throw it in the garbage, count my losses, and admit a very expensive life lesson.
