In March of 2022 I purchased a course from this business: "The Reinvention Experience." I purchased it to help me build my business. This experience was marketed as a live 11 week program that I was going to have access to the recordings on a separate website. I paid $5000 for this course. It was advertised and marketed as once this is purchased I would have lifetime access to the course and that is why I made the purchase. The business committed to provide the live calls + access to recordings on the website with log-ins.The nature of the dispute is that in January of 2024 this business took down the website with the course and relinquished my access to it. When I reached out to the business about what happened, they informed me that their courses "typically only last for a year and then they take them down." This was not disclosed in any of the marketing + emails + check out page + advertising, etc. I didn't know this was a course I would only have limited access to. When I informed the business that they didn't disclose that information, they replied with "sorry for the confusion." I'm not confused, that information wasn't disclosed. I called my bank about this already and my bank informed me because I agreed to the "terms and conditions" when I purchased the course there's nothing they can do about this.I think this who situation is unethical and I'd like to get my money back since I don't have access to a product that I purchased.Business response

I am writing to file a formal complaint against The Life Coach School and its founder, Brooke Castillo, concerning misleading business practices, a misleading refund policy, and an unjust denial of a refund under severe personal and financial circumstances.1. I invested $18,000 in The Life Coach Schools certification program, expecting to receive exclusive and advanced coaching content because Brooke marketed this way. Contrary to these expectations, the program provided content that was identical to what is freely available on the schools podcast. Several others agree that she has grossly misrepresented the programs value.2. The refund policy on the website permits refunds only within seven days of the programs start. This policy does not seem to reflect confidence in the programs effectiveness. A more accommodating policy, allowing refunds after completing the program, would be a fairer approach, enabling participants to truly assess its impact. 3. Brooke suggested maxing out credit cards for her program. Following this advice has led me to financial overextension, contributing significantly to my current crisis.4. My financial decision, heavily influenced by the Brooke, has resulted in severe financial strain, to the point of potential homelessness and having to give up my dogs. Despite explaining my situation to Brooke, she told me no.5. Due to the financial impact of enrolling in this program, my credit card account has been closed, making the standard refund process impossible. I require the refund to be processed via a direct bank transfer, as it is a matter of urgent necessity.I formally request the BBBs assistance in investigating these practices and helping secure a fair resolution. The situation not only represents a significant personal and financial crisis for me but also raises serious questions about the business and ethical practices of Brooke Castillo.Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.Sincerely,*********************************Business response

I paid $21,000 to The Life Coach school in 2020/2021 with the promise of lifetime access to the training materials as they continue to develop. They have discontinued my access to this content because I didn't follow a process initiated by emails sent by the school in January while I was traveling with limited access to my email and limited time. They also refused me access to the annual Mastermind that is a part of the promise in committing to their certification process. I can understand if I'm not listed as a recommended coach or something for not following their process but I do not accept being denied access to the materials that I paid top dollar for. I do see that the material promises access for active members but I took that for it's literal meaning since no other details were provided at the time of commitment.Business response

Hello *****,
We have reviewed your complaint. Our active status policy currently requires each coach to confirm their intent to maintain Active Status annually. We have confirmed that you were provided with numerous emails and opportunities to complete active status requirements earlier this year, and we are sorry to hear of your difficulties with our process. To remedy this situation, we have reinstated your Active Status standing with The Life Coach School. This will reactivate your access to our materials and content, including the replay of Mastermind 2023, when available.
Please be advised that, going forward, we have simplified the process to remain active. You can expect to receive details around the changes in your inbox in January 2024.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any further assistance.
Best,
********************************************************;
CFO, The Life Coach School
