An Agonizing Journey with the 2023 Honda Pilot Date of Purchase: 08/18/2023 My experience with the 2023 Honda Pilot started on a hopeful note. On August 18th, 2023, I drove off the ***** McDavid dealership lot with high expectations, believing in the Honda brand's legacy of reliability and securing what I thought would be a comfortable family SUV. However, this optimism was quickly crushed, and what followed can only be described as a nightmarish ordeal.First Breakdown at 201 Miles: A mere five days after purchase, on August 24th, my brand new Honda Pilot suffered a catastrophic breakdown. This happened while I was merging onto a busy intersection during rush hour, with the car moving at 50 miles per hour. The breakdown not only left me stranded but also physically harmed, as I had to exit the vehicle to help push it away from blocking traffic. With only 201 miles on the odometer, this incident shattered my confidence in the reliability of the 2023 Honda Pilot.A Troubling Second Breakdown: The nightmare didn't end with the first breakdown. To add to the mounting frustration, my brand new Honda Pilot suffered a second breakdown, mere minutes after I was told it was ready for pickup on September 5th at 4:40 pm. On September 6th at 2 pm, I returned to ***** McDavid to return a loaner and collect my vehicle. However, as I started driving, the Honda Pilot began shaking uncontrollably, and both side mirrors automatically folded, obstructing my view. The dashboard lit up with multiple alerts, indicating issues with the smart entry system and the ** system. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, I immediately returned to ***** McDavid's service department within a mere five minutes of picking up the car. This second breakdown is not only deeply concerning but also raises serious safety issues. The fact that the side mirrors began folding automatically while in motion posed a significant risk to my safety, potentially compromising my ability to navigate safely.

We're disappointed that you experienced immediate issues with your new Honda. Records show that after our diagnostic, we found the oil control valve switch failed and also replaced battery. After the Pilot had multiple warning lights, we then provided a loaner vehicle during diagnoses. It was found that the body control unit failed, so we replaced it and performed multiple tests and drives to verify repairs. Feel free to give us a call to discuss your service or if you experience any additional issues with your Pilot. We can be reached at ************** and you may request to speak with ********************* or ***************************. Thank you for your business and patience as well.

I purchased a 2015 Honda Pilot in May 2023. This was a certified pre-owned vehicle with ****** miles. I've had this vehicle barely 4 months and it has needed over $6000 in repairs! I have had the vehicle in at least 4 times for the same issue, and each time they have come back with thousands of dollars of repairs needed for other items and still have not fixed my issue with the struts. I'm paying for a warranty but what good is that when it doesn't cover anything? Not to mention I traded in my other vehicle and also put down $3500, which was all I had in my savings at the time. I am highly dissatisfied and DO NOT recommend purchasing a vehicle from this dealership.

Our team has worked to assist this customer. We got the General Manager involved to have a check engine repair covered under her TCA. The noise customer is complaining about is coming from her struts, which is not a covered component. Every other repair has been covered. Thank you.

    Extremely dissatisfied!
We bought a 2012 Honda CRV and after a week of driving it wasn't shifting smoothly.
So I opened the hood and checked the transmission dipstick and there wasn't any fluid on it. One of their selling points is that all used cars go through a 166 point inspection? So what happened? We were also promised a full detail but that didn't happen. I then proceeded to reach out to the salesman ***** and got no response. The next day I asked for ******************, the *** to call ** but it was given to *****************, Used Car Manager which he left a voicemail in which we tried three times to get him on the phone but no success.
UPDATE as of 2/15 *****************, whom said he would make good on our concerns, is no longer returning my calls
He must of thought I would just go away.

***, when your concerns were brought to our attention, we requested that you bring the vehicle in for us to take a look at it. You refused, but for reference, when someone checks the transmission fluid on a vehicle, it will show low or empty, if the car is running. Once you turn the vehicle off, the fluid goes back into the pan and then you can check the fluid. If you checked it with the vehicle running, it would have shown it was low. If you would like to bring your vehicle in, we are still happy to take a look at it. Thank you.

I've been using their service over 3 years and totally disappointed with the marketing this time. I got an email with the 15%off coupon it states specifically for 4 tires replacement. When I show it to the sales person he said it's for any other service but tires!! You kidding me? That's kind of cheating. They should have stated that in the email and let the customer know. Isn't it sounds stupid that you say the coupon inside the email mentioned service is not what it's for? It doesn't make any sense to sent this email out. And I found it out only when I got there. There's nothing about I can't use it for tires in the email. NONE.

    Date: 12/19/2022

Ms. ****, we apologize for the misunderstanding regarding our offers. We do honor those coupons when proof is shown and in your case, records show that you did receive 15% for your tire service on 12/15/22. Our Service Manager, Sina S***** should have reached out to you but if you have not yet spoken with him, please reach out to clarify at **************. Thank you.

Went in to get a tire serviced that was purchased from this location on a Friday. They advised they would have to order the part and it would be in by Tuesday. I picked up the car and found that though the tire with a problem was on the rear of the vehicle, they rotated the tires and placed the "donut" spare on the front of the vehicle. I called on Friday to speak with someone at 6:00 and left a message. No one called me back. Called on Tuesday at 6:15pm to follow up on my complaint and find out the status of the part that was supposed to be in by now. They advised someone call me back by 7pm. They did not call me back. On Wednesday I called at 6:15 on my way home from work. ***** advised they would call me back. I doubted that so I went by the dealership and spoke with service manager ******* (sp?) have advise he would call me by 9:30 on Thursday. At 10:38 I called back and was told they would call me back in 10 minutes. I gave them 20 and called back again. Still unable to reach the service department. It is clear the I am not important to them as a customer and they have no intention of calling me back. Prove me wrong, Honda.

Wanted to purchase a car that the website shows to be "in-transit", wife called and was told by Talal that they don't presell cars unless we had a trade to give them. The following day Talal texted my wife asking for info on the trade, she sent them all info on her current vehicle, he sent an offer back. At this point my wife decided to keep her vehicle to private sell later but told him that we have cash to put down to show that we will be there to purchase the car when it gets to their lot. After she explained this to me I told her that I've never heard of such a thing and told her it was a form of discrimination. I chatted with Carl S**** on David McDavid website and verified that their manager would do a presell but only if they could have our trade, he said that they don't reservations on vehicle anymore unless approved by management. He said it wouldn't be fair to other customers because they don't have the high markups on their new vehicles and take advantage of the customer like the other car lots in the area. As a consumer looking to get into a Honda I feel this isn't how it should be done, I was told that they don't take advantage of customers like other dealers but I feel like they are trying to take advantage of us by trying to force us to trade our vehicle in order to reserve the car that we want. We have a large chunk of cash upfront to put down on this vehicle as we are serious buyers. Moral of the story is they are willing to discriminate against the consumer by wether you have a trade or not, it's not about selling the car and gaining another Honda owner to bring business to their service department. We are now back to looking at Lexus and Toyota cars after this experience.

*Do not use this business* Their service center is in the business of completely ripping off customers by overcharging, overstating, and false presentation of your vehicle's condition. Their free inspection is just to scare you that your vehicle needs unbelievably expensive repairs and all the flagged in red. They charged me thousands for the replacement of several parts and repairs which were not needed. Their warranty is also extremely limited. They asked me to replace the alternator and then it died within 13 months again and they provide only 12 months warranty, so I had to spend another $1500.00 to replace it. Complete fraud business and have a monopoly in Plano Frisco areas. Honda motor company itself is allowing them to rip their customers.

I have lost all trust in the dealership service department. They keep changing stories and trying to make you pay an exorbitant amount of money for no reason. I brought the car in because my steering wheel vibrates at highway speeds - 70/75 miles per hour. They recommended tire balance and rotation. I expected the car back in a couple of hours. However, the service person did not call me and when I called he informed me that the problem is not fixed and need to run more tests. The next day he informs me that I need to replace my axle and it is on backorder. After 2 more days he informed me that they have removed the old axle but while removing it somehow the shaft got stuck to it or something and now they need to replace the shaft. When I complained he tried to blame it on me saying that the axle was not a genuine Honda part and that's why the shaft was stuck. After further checking, we found out that the axle was indeed replaced by their service department just 2 years ago. So they put in an after-market part without my knowledge a few years ago and now broke it. The shaft was also back-ordered and after about a total of 10 days and $1290 cost I got the car back and the original problem of steering wheel vibration is still there. This is totally unacceptable. It seems like at best they really don't know how to fix the car and just recommend many expensive repairs or at worst trying to scam customers' money. The service person rarely called and I had to call and text him several times to get a straight answer. Very disappointed to say the least. One star review is only because I can't submit the review without selecting something, otherwise I would give 0 star review.
