The merger with another credit union was the worst move for ACU. This once great credit union went south fast. I got a good auto rate but it was a difficult and slow process. The dealer was patient with them but not a fun process. They have a chat option on the app that is basically an email with very slow responses. As a previous banker the way this place does business is unacceptable, at best.

If I could leave a 0-star rating, I would. My vehicle loan was with them since 2016. I paid it off in January of 2023 which was impossible online because their system kept crashing when I tried to input a payment outside of my scheduled auto-withdraws. I finally got a customer service rep to help take my payment. Shortly after, they were supposed to send the title to me via mail since I moved out of state. I received a letter stating the title was included but it wasn't. After calling customer service, they "sent the title" but it was never received. I called them back asking for tracking, confirmation of delivery, anything that would prove it was sent. They had nothing. I now have to go through the state DMV and pay the fees associated with getting a new one. Nothing I have experienced with ACU has been pleasant. Save yourself the trouble and find another bank.

For years I was a member of this pretend credit union with no issues. Then all of a sudden I began to see charges for use of my debit card. Without warning they began to charge for transactions made in the US. I challenged this practice. I was told that visa was charging the fees. It was very strange. I had moved out of the state and kept using the bank. I wanted to close my account. I could not because they quickly pulled out a very long red tape. The effect being that you could not close your account unless you traveled to Texas. This is very inconvenient. I have not had time to travel to Texas. So I became hostage to the greedy pretend credit union. The latest charge they hit me with was over $18 dollars for one transaction. And this for using my debit card. At the same time they have shut down my card for days now making it impossible to buy even groceries. When I call, I am told that their office is closed. Woe betide you if you get your card shut down while on a trip. I shivered to think that, I would have traveled to Africa with my debit card for back-up. I would have been very sorry because they would have left me stranded. For the fees they are charge, you would think that they would provide a 24 hour customer service. But no sir! Avoid like a plague! Be warned!
