    I purchased a titanium frame back in 2010 from Bike Island. Felt good about the purchase as titanium is a material that should last a lifetime, and if something did happen Motobecane warranties it for 100 years. In 2022 cracks appeared at the top end of my seatpost tube. Annoying, but I had the warranty backing it up.I contacted Bike Island and sent the frame in for replacement or repair. BI indicated it could take up to a year for resolution. After about a month I was notified a shipment was coming from Motobecane. The box arrived and the the frame was "fixed". The cracks were welded and I was ready to put it back together and ride it.Less than eight months later cracks reappeared in the same spots as before on the newly repaired welds.I once again reached out to Bike Island. They requested that I send it back in, for which I did. Once again BI indicated it could take up to a year for resolution. The owner did offer to sell me a new frame at a discounted rate, saying replacement would be difficult as frames now take disc brakes and are set up for through axels. I did remind him of the warranty language, so the current state of technology shouldn't matter if the frame cannot be repaired, replacement was the alternative solution per the warranty.This time I started to ask questions. I wanted to get contact names with ********** to get updates. BI directed me to the Motobecane website, which had email info that no longer works. The owner was unwilling to help with current contact info. I requested contact info at **** the manufacturer of Motobecane's titanium frames. He refused saying he was the the contact for the warranty process.The problem with that is he couldn't, or wouldn't reach out for updates on the process. So, essentially, the warranty process is a black hole.The frame was ultimately "repaired" but once again BI refused to give me a contact name at Motobecane so I could determine if the same guy "fixed" it again.

    Just like most retailers, we handle warranty issues at Bike Island. We perform as an agent for the customer and interface with the manufacturer. Most manufacturers are not set up to deal with customers on a retail level and Motobecane is no different. As long as this customer owns his bike, ********** will stand behind their warranty and honor it.
