I am an American Home Shield customer. ********************** (******* location) was assigned to my AC issue on July 17th. They came out on Thursday July 22. My issue is that my AC was blowing warm air inside the house, the temperature would rise and the outside unit was not coming on.******** from CTR Services arrived and checked the outdoor unit. She took off a panel to look at wires etc and cleaned the area out. She checked my freon in the outdoor unit and told me it was a pound low so I agreed to pay the $130. That afternoon, I had the same problem - my AC was blowing warm air inside the house, the temperature would rise and the outside unit was not coming on. I called American Home Shield and they set up another appointment with ******** from CTR to come back to my place. Another appointment was set for Wednesday July 28th. She arrived and I told her that I was having the same issue and that I noticed that I was having this issue later in the afternoons. She decided to install a new thermostat, which I agreed to because I was hoping this might help. At around 1am on Thursday July 29, I started having the same issue - my AC was blowing warm air inside the house, the temperature would rise and the outside unit was not coming on. I let ******** know and she told me that there was nothing that she could do and to call American Home Shield to send out another contractor. On Thursday July 29, I called American Home Shield and told them that I still have the same problem and that CTR did not fix the issue. They set me up with another contractor on that same day. The new AC company came out on Monday August 2nd. I told the technician that my AC was blowing warm air inside the house, the temperature would rise and the outside unit was not coming on. I told him what CTR had completed which was to provide more freon and a new thermostat. The technician checked the outdoor unit and said that the freon was low and that there was a leak. He told me that CTR should have checked for any leaks, which they did not. The technician from the other company also went up in the attic and determined that the problem was a leaking EVAP coil. He explained that this was why my AC was blowing warm air inside the house, the temperature would rise and the outside unit was not coming on. It took him all of 10 minutes to tell me what was wrong while CTR never bothered to investigate the problem. The technician also told me that this was why the freon that CTR provided was now low it had been leaking.CTR claimed that they followed American Home Shield protocol and that they were not supposed to check for any leaks and thats why they didnt bother to do it. If this is true, why did the second company who came out, check for any leaks and diagnose the problem? I paid $130 for some freon that leaked out because CRT never bothered to check. In fact, they claimed they didnt know what was wrong. And they are supposed to be the experts? I know that CRT nor American Home Shield will do anything about the $130 but I wanted the consumer to beware of how CTR does business. And just another word of warning - I wouldnt use American Home Shield either. They advertise one thing and do another, which is to make the consumer pay most of the ****. This whole situation has been nothing but a scam.
