I will never rent from one of their properties again. They took over our San Antonio complex about halfway through our lease. The portal was never transitioned properly. I couldn't send messages or maintenance requests. After hours phones never worked. I got fast busies and hang ups. That problem disrupted someone's event because music was to be turned off, but wasn't. They couldn't get help. When the new Asst Manager arrived they did fun things, staff was nice and seemed to care but there were inexcusable issues. Very loud fire alarms went off many times, scaring our dog. It would shut the internal doors, causing horrible heat and no circulation in hallways. The last time it lasted a couple weeks and they wouldn't allow doors to be propped. The elevators made horrible noises and the one we used most never had an inspection certificate. I asked about it and was told that the previous mgr had it in her name, so they couldn't take care of it?? Dogs peed in the hallway and carpets were stained. We were moving out of state and gave ample notice and a forwarding address. Our lease ended 6/13 but we left a couple weeks before that and cleaned, so they could lease quickly. A few weeks ago, I was told there was a final inspection and we would get our whole deposit back, minus the water bill. When I followed up, I was told it was mailed 7/12. A week later, I was told it mailed 7/16. As of July 19, we have yet to get it. By law in TX, landlords are required to return deposits within 30 days of vacating, which means they have broken the law. I could seek compensation of 3x my rent, plus $100 and legal expenses. I called Asset a couple of times (and had before when we were having issues) and not once have they returned calls. They could care less. They charge 5% of your rent if you are 3 days late (but I was always on time) but they do this? The apts are expensive so there should be better care. As of today, our old apartment is still vacant. Gee, I wonder why....Review from Briauna H

I live in The ***** Apartments in ATL, GA. I have had mult issues with the complex as far as harassment, medicine being withheld from me by the front office and many more major problems. I’ve since attempted to contact the Property Management company and those who are over the Atlanta property, Jane ******* and Brian *****. Jane is extremely confrontational as the “Regional Manager” to the point where she insulted my intelligence on their recorded line and continued to argue with and speak over me to the point where I had to end the call. I then reached out to Brian who is her supervisor, I have sent over 10 emails since the incident & have called over 5 times in attempt to contact Brian. Not one phone call or email was returned. I’ve left over 4 voicemails in attempt to explain the importance of the issue. I have since attempted to contact the president of the property management company, Mitch ********* I have been forwarded to voicemail twice after being notified that they were available. I’ve left 2 voicemails as well and again, no returned calls.Review from Katie W

Actively discriminate against people with disabilities. Tried calling to speak to someone above their regional supervisor and can’t get a human on the phone and voicemails are left unreturned. Requested a reasonable accommodation of designated parking and was told that what they could offer me was waiving the fee to break my lease. That they can’t give me a spot because then everyone will want one. I’m physically disabled and have lived there for 3 years. Before they took over the property. Not I have no choice but to move.Review from Gordon H

When Asset Living assumed management of the complex where I live, tenants immediately were thrust into a financial SNAFU because Asset's utilities procedure differs from that of the prior management company. Rather than simply forgiving this to demonstrate to tenants that Asset supports them and isn't willing to hold them liable for a bureaucratic change, Asset has continued to dun tenants, even threatening them with eviction should they not fork up the money. Although management has been contacted repeatedly about this, and has been repeatedly informed the issue will be settled, Asset continues to dun tenants. It's like Asset wants to squeeze every single nickel out of tenants--who have little to no power to even get management to listen to them or to even be coherent in regard to this issue. Clearly, communication between the local manager and the Asset corporate office is either garbled or nonexistent. Had Asset been responsible in purchasing the property from the previous company, Asset would have been able to glean cooperation from that company. Instead, these people are going for Easy Street and bullying tenants for often small amounts of money.Review from Carolyn S

A very bad experience with chapel Run apartment they left me and mind homeless. We had to move in date and everything done changed utilities are in our name she had us come in one day on a Tuesday sign the paper for resident stuff and then the next day right before the 21st she called and tell us we didn't have an apartment. At the government have any kind of funds in this same place you need to check it out because they are doing something that is not legalReview from Kaye W

Terrible response to maintenance service. Dishwasher not working for 4 weeks after several tickets and promises. Locked in broken elevator and no response from management. Elevator safety phone line didn’t connect anywhere and had to look for door release key. Fortunately I had my cell phone and called 911! And no one from office ever answered phone or checked on me.Review from David G

Parcside is not worth the dirt it is on. The entire property should have been torn down years ago. Still trying to figure out how the city of College Station allows this. Here is a short list: Mold - the city of College Station has been notified. Major insect issues. HVAC’s that haven't been maintained or cleaned in many years The trash area is a city-wide trash dump, rodents! The showers creak and crack so loud you’ll hear your neighbor every time they shower. The pool area becomes the city’s pool resort, and Parcside does 0% to combat. The entire community’s windows should be replaced. They are well over 30 years old, with cracks and fogging to the point where you can’t even see out. The door frames community-wide should also be replaced. In the two years of living there, we put in over a dozen work orders just for the front and rear doors. They were never fixed sufficiently. Will take your deposit when you move out to clean your unit, even if it is in better condition than when you moved in. And I won’t forget the Parcside office staff, absolutely pointless. Ever since Lauren left, everything went downhill pretty quickly. The change of ownership, which happens often, probably contributed to this. This is for the young adults/college kids/parents thinking of renting at Parcside. 90% of the community is on Section 8 vouchers. The turnover is even higher than your typical college apartments, it’s insane how many people move in and out. I would never in a billion years allow my child to live at Parcside.Review from melissa o.

Property management only gave me 72 hours to notify them of not wanting to renew. Now I must pay over $2000 for an apartment that is going to be vacant for a month.Review from Morgan G

Asset Living purchased the property I was renting to become State College Collective on Aaron II in State College, PA. During my time there, they were late on every maintenance request I made. Most recently, after I attempted to dispute my final move-out statement, they completely ignored me for over thirty days despite reaching out at least four times over email and two times over the phone. I was told my staff members that my concerns were being forwarded to a Chris *******, but he did not respond to me. Then I received a notice from a collections agency. When I called after that, my call was finally forwarded to Chris who said I could forward him my dispute. After sending it to him, as per usual, I was ignored. I was called by the collections agency that I was wrongly sent to and had to mail them the proof that we were wrongly charged. Finally, my guarantor reached out to Kyle **** who finally looked into the dispute and fixed it for us. No one should have to go through the amount of trouble and jump through all of the hoops we had to to get answers. I followed their protocols, and they still sent me to collections. I'm deeply hurt and upset by how I was treated at all levels of management, and I will never rent from an Asset Living property again if I can help it.
