DON'T USE UNITED GEAR WORKS!!! FIND A DIFFERENT COMPANY!!!!! In November of 2023, an extruder screw broke on one of our machines. We located United Gear Works via ******. We spoke with their representative, Richard *****, and were given a quote of $1,900 for the repair, which they wanted us to pay up front BEFORE the repair was done. We put it on our credit card. They ran the charge using the account of their sister company, In and Out Gear Repair. On Nov 20, 2023, United came by and picked up the broken extruder screw. Mr. Price then informed us that the repair had been completed and that the extruder screw would be returned on Monday, Jan 15, 2024. After countless phone calls and assurances that the screw would be delivered, he told us that they had subcontracted the job out to another shop and that they had lost the extruder screw. He assured us that they would pay us for a replacement extruder screw. He asked us to get a Quote for a replacement extruder screw and he agreed to pay us within 5 days after presentation of the Quote. He signed a settlement agreement on behalf of United Gear Works documenting the agreement. We presented him with a Quote for the replacement extruder screw on Feb. 20, 2024. It is now March 25, 2024, and no monies have been received. We have contacted him, but he has now gone silent. I went on the BBB's web site and found these reviews for United Gear Works, some with similar stories to ours of sending the part, paying for the repair, and never getting the part back. What does that tell you? We have contacted our credit card company and done a "chargeback" of the $1,900, but we are now out a very expensive extruder screw. The cost to replace it is $7,500. DON'T USE UNITED GEAR WORKS OR THEIR SISTER COMPANY, ** *** *** **** ******!!!
