Do NOT buy a Coventry home. Not only will you get a sub-standard home and have to deal with Coventry's nightmare customer service, but they may also fuck up enough to get your family killed (think loose gas valve in fireplace that's virtually undetectable until it's too late). They do NOT want to honor their warranty nor fix any of their screwups. I have had to fight, argue, and threaten with legal action for practically every issue. I have had TWO gas leaks, one of which was a loose valave from installation. Besides electrical, plumbing, and HVAC issues, I am now fighting with Coventry over framing issues. What started off as bulges in the ceiling drywall has evolved into two separate framing issues and now I'm fighting to have a third one fixed. Here is Coventry's playbook if you report an issue: (1) refuse to admit fault; (2) if you push, they will send someone out who will tell you nothing is wrong even if it's a glaring problem; (3) if you keep pushing, they MIGHT send someone out to try to fix it; (4) if they can't fix it, they will tell you it's not covered by warranty. I'm a lawyer myself and I'm sure that's the only reason I've gotten some of the stuff fixed, but I have already asked a colleague to look into legal action. Completely unacceptable that Coventry is refusing to fix things that are clearly their fault. I'm lucky to have discovered the gas leak when I did, since it was the week of a freeze in Houston. My family and I would be dead if I had used that fireplace.Review from Jennifer J

Uncooperative, rude, unprofessional. They do not respond to questions unless you pester for weeks and refuse to give detailed pricing information. Furthermore, we were misinformed on features of the home by sales agent.Review from Aristarchus A

We went to several builders and my wife and I both agreed on Coventry Homes. The only thing we did not like was the yards were really small. We do a lot of gardening, we have pets, so we needed the space. That's how we learned about the "Build on your lot program." I went to the Coventry Model home several times then my wife and went, we found the land we wanted, got the ball rolling. We called the sales person, (can't remember his name because I saved it as "sorry Coventry sales person" in my contacts). He was either busy, didn't answer, or needed to call us back. So we decided to just go into the model home, which is about 45 mins from our home in Converse, but we did and was told we had to go to the Gruene or Canyon Lake Model home to see him. We already knew the home we wanted, our bid was accepted, our loan was already pre-approved, we walked into Coventry with our check book reason to write a check for our earnest money. We get in the model home and the salesman doesn't even acknowledge us, we walk into his office and he then tells us to look around he would be with us. We looked but we were set on the Logan 2 for $452k. A couple came in and he greeted them and showed them the model home and everything, they finished up and then he asked us if we could help us, we made him remember us and we told him we wanted the Logan 2, we had a bunch of questions with the garage, he said he needed to walk the lot to insure it would fit, we knew it would fit because we were purchasing a 2 acre lot, we have plenty of space. The salesman said we needed to go to the design center before we could sign a contract, we waited, and waited, come to find out he never scheduled us for an appointment, so we scheduled it for ourselves. While we were waiting the price went from 452 to 517k, we talked to him and it was the response that made us walk away. He even sent us a text saying, "so no need to walk your lot." I called corporate and they absolutely blew us off.Review from Balachandar M

Coventry home is projecting as a luxury builder, I am chasing them for addressing my warranty service for a month , garage roof is leaking and raised a request , they were responding in email and now no response too. They are using some cheap materials for small things link door bell transformers , batteries for fire alarms (almost changed all in 2 months) , weather strip shower room, etc. Poor interms of addressing warranty requests.Review from Kim F

If I could put negative stars on here I would. This is the worst home builder ever. They have absolutely zero customer service. I have been waiting nearly 1 year since I moved in for my 1 MONTH warranty claim. Since then they have gone through at least 4 construction managers and I have had zero work done on my home. My home is covered in blue tape from their errors. The paint is peeling off of my front door. They do not care. They do poor work. I wish I had never bought this house from them. It has been nothing but problems. Daniel was the salesman who sold me this house. When the contracts are signed, he is done caring. AVOID A COVENTRY HOUSE AT ALL COSTSReview from Oksana E

This company is crooked. We moved to Texas and were looking to purchase the house. The sales rep arranged everything so fast for us. The company collected our earnest money and asked to use their preferred lender for mortgage. We did, we were preapproved with them, submitted all the required documentation, but at the end the lender denied us due to our recent move and change of jobs - so what do you do when you move, I guess never buy a house. We contacted the company to return our earnest money and that's where they showed they true colors. They dragged the time for the whole month, then sent us to corporate office to contact Brian. He talked to us once and told us he will get back to us the next day. But it never happened. We called them every day for last 2 weeks requesting to talk to him. The guy doesn't even have a voicemail. The receptionist is instructed to take information and that's it. they can't give us anybody else to talk to. This is like a scam. They are so quick to get hold of you to get your money but have all the excuses not to call you back if you need something from them. What kind of business is this and what kind a management do you have if you get the messages that somebody wants to talk to you, but you can't find the time to resolve the issue. All I can say to people who are looking to buy the house from ******** Homes, please be careful as they work like scammers. And Brian - I gave you all the chances to be a man of integrity to talk to us and make things right, but you are just brushing us off and lying. So, I will post everywhere I can the poor ratings of your company and will spread the word to all the realtors I know to avoid you at all the cost!!! You want to make it right - return us the money!!!Review from Shari F

Love my home but not warranty response. Ghosted me via phone and email after filing a roof leak request for repair. Refused repair because of Tesla solar panels installed. This is illegal to void a roof warranty if a reputable company installs the panels. Paid $300 for Tesla to generate a report after spending several hours inspecting my roof from inside and out. With pictures, it was determined to be a badly installed ridge vent. Updated my warranty ticket with the report and pictures. Subdivision rep came with a roofer and tried telling us the ridge vent was supposed to let in water....Really, we are not stupid...Roofer said he could come the following week. Called the office and emailed with no more responses and no roofer returned. Paid $600 to have a good roofing company replace my ridge vent and adjoining tiles. If compensation is not returned, then small claims court will be the next step.Review from Daena G

Where do I even start? You just have to make sure that you’re stopping by the construction site a couple times a week to make sure that they didn’t put the wrong frame on the front door, wrong frame for the bathtub in the master bedroom, that the cabinets that were installed in the working kitchen aren’t broken, that the back door is not too big for the frame and you don’t have a hard time locking and unlocking it. That the master bedroom closet looks like what we asked. That you don’t have a water leak in the sprinkler system (that is NOT covered by warranty) months into moving in to your home. That the plumbing is adequate enough so you are able flush the toilets every time without it clogging. I could go on. When the financing portion of the process comes about make sure that you notify them 30 days prior to the closing date that you have your own lender and won’t be going with their lender. If they give you a closing date and it’s in less than 30 days and you didn’t tell them about your lender, you’re out of luck. Don’t bother calling corporate office because Max, the VP over the financing, will not only not return your phone calls and messages, he will tell the sales associate to tell you that HE WILL NOT BE CALLING YOU BACK. If I could give negative stars I would.Review from Staci D

Home build took months longer than projected. Pushed to close with many items still not completed. Have been in the home since August 2022 and still have punch list items outstanding. Approximately 30 warranty items outstanding. Cannot get responses from anyone. They say they will do XYZ and then nothing happens. Do NOT build with this builder.Review from swetha g

We are about to get into contract with coventry homes and once we gave the cheque and finalized everything, now they are coming back and saying the incentives have changed. I understand builders keep changing prices often based on demand. Though it is legally correct as we are not in contract yet, this seemed very unethical and unfair.
