-Lived at Meadows at Cypress Creek Apts for 7 yrs - Good tenant - no late payments -Lease ended on 1/31/24 -On 10/18/23, submitted letter of intent to move and not to renew lease because purchasing home -I experienced delays with closing by the end of lease but communicated with mgmt. and was given extension to pay month to month for no more than 3 month -When obtaining new closing date, communicated with mgmt. on 3/3/24 to inform them I would be out by 3/30/24 in which I did -Now the manager is unethically trying to act like she did not know about the plan to move just to get out of refunding my security deposit - saying that I did not provide proper notice and that the original noticed on 10/18/23 voided automatically when I stayed pass the lease - now charging me $795 for not giving proper notice -My issue is that if the previous written notice voided when I stay passed the lease, then why didn't they tell me on 2/8/24 when I spoke with them and affirmed that I was still moving but just needed a little more time and did not want a lease. I would have submitted another one with no problem. -This place is just looking for reasons not to give back my security because first they lied and said that I retracted my notice and ask for a lease renewal and then when I responded that they were taking it out of context, they then come up with this whole issue about the written notice being voided after 60 days or when I stayed past my lease date. -If they were trying to be fair, they would clearly see that I was desperately looking for guidance and trying to do the right thing here to prepare for the move. However, if their representative failed to tell me on 2/8/24 that my notice had expired or had been voided, then they should accept some responsibility for that and show some grace with this situation. -they say they do everything by the book, but it was their lack of responsiveness and/or communication that created this confusion and thus is causing harm to meCustomer response
