Atria kicked my mother out when she required hospice care. She was at Atria Newport Plaza, CA in their memory care unit. They said that if she cannot feed herself or if it takes more than one person to get her out of bed, then you have to take her somewhere else. It only took a few non-continuous days for them to decide she had to go. They even acknowledged that the move would be a stressor and neither the social worker nor the hospice nurse have ever heard of someone being booted for needing too much help. Especially since she started hospice so Medicare was paying for extra help. In the end they just pointed to the contract so I had to moved her to a less expensive memory care location in the same area that promise not to kick her out for needing "too much" help. The operations staff are great people but management, not so much. Atria should be very clear to potential tenants that if they will terminate the residency if your parent becomes too disabled. Had I know this was a likely outcome, I would not have put her there. And because I found that their assessment documents didn't support any of what they were saying either, I will never know why but it was the wrong thing to do.
