    Our Country Homes purposefully omitted installing Radiant Barrier in the attic of our home. We didn't know that we had a problem until summer of 2022 when we noticed the upstairs was extremely hot and would not cool to a comfortable temperature. I had multiple HVAC companies out to check the system and was told that wasn't the problem. Independent from OCH, we had a couple of roofers and builders out to troubleshoot our heat issue. They pointed out that we had no radiant barrier in the attic. When I brought this to the attention of OCH, their response on July 21 2022 was "unfortunately OCH was unable to obtain it at the time your home was being built. In lieu of the radiant barrier, OCH upgraded the insulation that was installed."OCH was very deceptive given they never even told ** about this substitution during the build process and we had to discover it on our won through trial and error. Per the contract, "OCH reserves the right to modify this information at any time without notice, and the right to substitute specifications for those of those of similar quality..."By definition, a substitute is a product that can be used in place of another, being a product that is essentially the same as what is being substituted for. However, Radiant barrier and insulation aren't even similar products. Radiant barrier does NOT take the place of insulation. Attic insulation and radiant barrier work together to make homes more energy efficient and comfortable. If OCH decided to substitute R-38 insulation for R-44 insulation, that would qualify as a substitution. The contract doesn't state that a specification could be completely omitted, which is what happened with the Radiant Barrier given this is on its own line item and is a different specification grouping.The two items are entirely different and serve different purposes in a home. Something needs to be done.

    Very disappointed with the service of Our Country Homes leadership and understand why home builders have such a poor reputation. Upon completion of our home there was an 8ft section of retaining wall not constructed by the land developer. I had mentioned this to our builder before closing and he stated it was built per plan. I noticed with the next couple of storms that there was severe erosion and contacted the area construction manager were I received the same response "the wall is built per plan", however he was going to send me the final grading plan for my review. After reviewing our plans. The lot was not built per plan and I responded in detail that the wall was not completed per the final grading plans and sent the details back to Our Country Homes leadership team. Both the V.P of Construction as well as the area manager agreed that the wall was not built per plan and should have been installed. However since our back corner was shared by GFO homes that they are not responsible and I would need to contact the other builder to have the wall installed. My response was both GFO and Our Country Homes has joint responsibility and should have been installed. So, here we are now. Our Country Homes leadership team agrees that the lot they sold us was not built per plan, and is requesting that "I" the customer contact GFO **********************. The level of customer service is a joke at **********************. I am not asking for anything more than completing my lot per plan which apparently wont happen as stated by the **** of Construction. I will now be forced to install the wall myself to prevent further erosion and take Our Country Homes to small claims court. It's unfortunate that a customer spends nearly a million dollars on a home and cant get Our Country Homes to give them what they paid for. Not asking for anything more than what was on the plans. Buyers Beware!!!! Construction team and sales were great, but leadership does not care about customer service.

    We are very sorry that **************** misunderstood what we said. We did not say that we would not fix the retaining wall. What we told **************** was that *** Builders was actually responsible for that wall, so we have to work with *** and get their approval and/or assistance in making the repairs. We have been reaching out to the *** Builders corporate office in order to get the process started. We have finally heard back from them and have approval to go onto the lots that they control to make these repairs. After the holiday and after this cold weather calms down, repairs should begin on the wall. We have always had every intension of making the needed repairs - but cannot work on other companies lots without their pre-approval. **************** should be taken care of soon.

    Austin,Your response to my post stated we would be taken care of after the holiday and the retaining wall would be completed. January 11th text message with ***** and ******************** with GFO was waiting for a bid from his contractor and it should be completed in a couple of weeks if not sooner. I was informed by ***** on Friday 1/28 that GFO is refusing to install the wall. We are very disappointed and frustrated that the wall has not been installed when we have been told in multiple communications it would. We are back to where we started with OCH telling me to contact the city. Is the wall going to be completed by either OCH or GFO? I need to know how I am going to move forward with getting the wall installed as it is detailed on the final grading plan. Please advise and feel free to contact me anytime to discuss further.
