Company Damage to my property - personal property damage!! I attempt to contact with the company multiple times with no follow-through/resolution/attempt to make any of this better! This company American Steel carport sent a crew out who shouldve known replacement of the carport/lean to went. They were non-English speaking was horrible. This was all set up with the seller of this carport and they shouldve known from the company. What needed to be done/and how it needed to be done, but they attempted to ask me what the communication gap, they placed pre-existing structure quite significantly and never disclosed that property damage I contact an attorney and he had me turn it over to the attorney general and Im also filing with you because this companys customer service/follow through/care for other peoples property is horrible and my existing structure is newer just placed in 2020 so definitely dont appreciate the damage!!Attempted to contact them about the damage the placement of the structure and no follow through/resolution so Im left to do this been working on this for sometime and have not had the ability to work on a daily with my busy career and lifestyle! So Im hoping after talking to the attorney and having me file it with the attorney general and your company that somebody follow through with my property damage!!At this point, they could refund all my money and fix their errors!!Absolutely, horrible customer service, and skill!!I have attached. Photos was not somewhere that I would look at, but of course, my husband, with this being his building was very unhappy with the damage to his pre-existing structure and the fact that we spent good money on it worked hard to get it and companies can damage stuff and get away with it!!Thank you, *******************************

08/22/2024 Cost: $10,172.38 The install of the shed was completed on 08/22/2024. Maryland Inspection failed the setup due to a lack of gutters on the 12x20 shed. The 20 years warranty is made void if any structural changes are made to the shed. I've spoken to the Engineers at American Steel Carports and was told that adding gutters would Void the 20 year warranty. No one at American Steel Carports or Maryland Permits made it clear to me that gutters would be necessary for the shed. So, I'm in a catch 22. I don't install the gutters, but the shed doesn't pass final inspection and I must pay fines to ********. I have the required gutters installed and I void the 20 year warranty. Neither choice is fair. The Engineers could not give me an alternative and Sales does support gutter installation. I can understand the structural concerns, but in cases where the state inspection mandates certain requirements for structures American Steel Carports should have options for the buyer to have this work added to the install or allowed for required cases. The shed has overhang and shouldn't I be able to use those without voiding the warranty? I was told by Engineering that any alteration to the structure voids the 20 year warranty. I've paid a lot of money for upgrades to this shed for thicker gauge steel, full insulation, etc... which added up to a nice sum. Certain considerations should be given for those with State mandated requirements.

Customer may install gutters. The warranty will not be avoided as long as the gutters don't affect the integrity of the unit.

On 8/1 I met with a sales representative to purchase a 30x60 building with plans on turning it into a barndominium on some wooded lots I own. At the meeting I was assured that nothing would move forward on the building until permits were in place. I explained that in order to get the permits I would need copies of the plans to submit to the local planning / building inspectors office. Still no problem. A price of $19,248 was agreed upon and a deposit of $3500.00 was given in the form of a check to the representative. I paid above the requested deposit amount of $3464.64, since I was told this would all be applied to the purchase price. This was at our meeting on August 1st. Up to this point I had not seen or signed a contract. Nor was there any mention of a non-refundable clause for the deposit. Many times I mentioned I would need the plans to secure the permits. I was told I would first need to sign a contract in order to get the plans to apply for the permits. So on August 4th I received a DOCU sign request. I signed and was told to expect a call next week to go over the order and I would then get the plans to request the permits. August 7th I received the call and later that day I received the plans and I submitted them to my planning. On August 13th I got the call from the planning / building department and was told they would not approve this type of structure. It would have to be stick built or a modular. I call my representative but his voicemail box was full. So I texted him. The bad news regarding the permit. He said no refund would be issued. Stating that metal had already been cutthis was a lie. I called back the number Anerican Steel had used to call me a few days before and they stated no problem in canceling the order since nothing moves forward until they receive a copy of the approved permit. They said the deposit is really commission paid to the representative and he would have to issue the refund but he is refusing to do so.

I am rejecting this response because:  This agreement was signed under false pretense and duress.  As outlined in my original complaint, the sales representative / dealer pressured me into signing the document in order to the documents I needed to get permitting.  ********** was ultimately denied.  Also, I've learned American Steel Carports, ***** dose not sell or offer residential building which is what I was purchasing.  The sales representative / dealer misrepresented that American Steel Carports, **** could supply such a building.  My original complaint still stands.

      08/24/2024

Unless the customer purchases closer strips it is normal to see some sort of light on vertical roofs due to the fact that they are corrugated panels. The building should still be protected by the elements. Attached please find the customer's contract.

On 5-28-24 we ordered a metal 22X25 garage from Beyond the Backyard. They went through American Steel for said garage. Cost $7,534.90. Garage was installed 7-17-24. They were to do the cut outs for the single door and the garage door. We told them on more than 1 occasion, the single door would be a pre-hung 36" door, and did they know how to cut the hole and we were told yes, they do them all the time. Also, the garage door regular house type door of 7X9. However, neither cut-out for doors was done correctly. Both have needed to be redone by us. Also, they didn't put the siding all the way to the ground on 1/2 of the building another thing we had to do. I asked that whatever material they cut out of the building be left (since we'd paid for it) and I was told they don't leave anything, since they can use it elsewhere. On 7-19-24 I called American Steel to tell them about the issues, after being passed to 3 people I was told the person I needed to speak to would call me back within 24 hrs. No call ever came. We waited 4 days for the call, which didn't come so we fixed the building. I called them again on the 30th. Got a return call, but no help, they want to send someone out to see what needs be done, but it's done. I have some pictures I could send them, but they don't really show the problems very well. All we asked for was money for the repairs we had done and the parts we needed to buy so we could put the 2 doors in. Cost $279.00. Also I'd like to warn other people this company's customer service doesn't exist. Be ware!

We bought an American Steel Carports, **** recently, paid an extra nearly 10k to upgrade it to hurricane rated and it tore up like a tin can category ONE hurricane! The doors blew out like curtains in the wind causing thousands of dollars worth of damage when they were slamming against a vehicle in the building for hours and allowing power tools and everything in that building to get wet and damaged from the wind and rain. We have been trying to get a hold of the owner of American Steel Carports, **** for over 3 weeks but we are not allowed to speak to anyone other than the service lady ***** who flat-out LIED to us. My husband is a paraplegic and his custom handicap-accessible van is STUCK inside the building and I am unable to get him to his doctor's ************ because the doors are broken and it is stuck inside there. Not to mention he was stuck there in the middle of a hurricane and we were unable to evacuate. We spent an entire week stuck there with NO electricity because we couldn't get him out since the doors failed and his only means of transportation was and still is trapped inside that building even still today 3 weeks later! I have begged for them to help me by replacing the doors and we are getting the run-around. They finally agreed to pay for half the price of the doors (aka one door) AND for the labor/return trip fee (yes I have this in writing) and now all of a sudden the story changed and they want us to pay half of everything which is nearly 6K! I have gotten quotes and I can get TWO doors plus labor for cheaper than "my half"! Now ***** says they have turned this over to their attorney and I have tried calling him for 3 days and he will not return my calls. All we want is for them to take the doors down so we can get the van out and replace the broken doors. I think that is MORE than fair considering all that has happened due to the FAILURE of their building them misleading us with a "hurricane-rated" building.

American Steel received a call from this customer concerning damages to her building. Upon receipt of that call, a warranty claim was opened within the company. American Steel sent a representative to the customer's property to inspect the damages alleged in her claim. Upon arrival, American Steel observed that the handicap van was propped up on a repair lift and not driveable in its current condition. American Steel also observed that the doors were damaged from the hurricane (doors are manufactured by a third party and not American Steel), but the building itself withstood the winds and was in good working order pursuant to its design. The customer did order a building that was warranted against wind gusts of up to 90 mph and her building withstood all winds during the period of time the hurricane struck the customer's property. At this time, the investigation and claim are both ongoing and American Steel is in regular communication with the customer concerning the matter.

I had a metal building installed in December of 2023. In May of 2024 the roll up door started hanging up on the seal at the top and would not come down unless I put my hand up there and pushed it out of the way so it could come back down. I contacted ******* on May 1 2024 after leaving a message at the number provided and not receiving a call back. I explained my situation she said to send pictures. I sent pictures and she agreed it needed to be repaired and she would have her repair manager return my call to set up a time for repairs. that was 10 weeks and several emails ago. There has been no call to set up a time just an excuse that they don't have any people in my area to do it. Same excuse every time. I can added the email chain I have of this incident. This is not an easy fix as it is behind the roll up door and has warped out to catch the door handle as it goes by. The door will have to be removed and possibly replacing the seal so that it doesn't catch any more. Its not something I want to do myself and is covered by their 20 year frame and 4 season installation warranty. The last communication stated the repair manager is working the order. That was June 18 2024.

I received a quote on a carport for my RV. Told their local salesman that eventually I will close it in entirely but didnt have the money now. He said if I didnt go down so far on the back wall that the frame bracing would not go all the way to the ground. I asked how far down did I need to go and he call and asked American steel Representative. He said if I went 6 down the back wall with the tin work then the framing would go all the way to the ground. Well when they installed it the framing did not go all the way to the ground. I called my local salesman before they were finished and he assured me it was supposed to and he would call about it. Since then I have spoke with him many times and called the company many times. He says they wont return his calls and every time I talk with someone they say they will get back with me. A couple of times they left me voicemails but when I called back it went straight to their voicemail and then no call back. I would like them to fix this situation. It shouldnt have gotten to this point.

Communication has been horrible. Everytime I call I get a different answer. When I initially signed the contract May 11th 2024, I informed the salesperson install needs to be within the 1st 2 weeks of July. This was noted in the contract also. June 10th, I made my first call to inform the company that I was ready for install, I was told to call back a week ahead of July 1st to get metal building scheduled. I have called a few times prior to that date and now the company cant guarantee to get me scheduled within the 1st two weeks of July. I feel cheated and deceived and been stringing me along.. Im so far in it now that I wont be able to get a different company to build it in the timeframe I need it done in. I feel like this is a common occurrence with this company and they are happy to keep your deposit.
