      On 4/5th, I purchased a baseball cap to cover surgery I had on my head. Since I never used the cap and still had the receipt, I went into the Gretna, LA store to return the purchase for a refund. The minute I walked in, I was advised that the system was down and they could not help me. (This was before the 60-days ended). The store is not close to where I lived so I attempted it again today since I was in the area. When I walked in, a gentleman immediately took my cap and handed me my receipt and sent me to a very long t\line to wait for my refund. I did and when I finally got the the cashier, she refused to give me me my refund. When I tried to explain to her she refused to hear anything I said and scolded the man who let me in at the door. This woman was 1 of 2 cashiers handling this large amount of people. Very poor customer service and horrible attitude. I will never shop at Academy Sports again. All for a 20.00 refund!

      I ordered a pair of $39.99 ******** online, however, when they arrived they weren’t what I thought they were and needed to return them. I found a store nearby in Bradenton, FL on their website, however, when I got there the store was still under construction with a big ‘coming soon’ sign. Two days later I went to their store in Pinellas Co., a 90 min. drive, however, when I walked into the store I was immediately told that their ‘return & exchange’ was down companywide, with an ‘I’m sorry.’ No one would be able to help me. I will never shop in their store ever again and will be donating the shoes to a very needy person.

      Bait and switch fraud. A product on their website was listed as in stock for $39.99 (which is a typical normal price, not a sales price or a mistake). I ordered 2. The next business day they cancelled the order claiming to be out of stock. 2 days later the product was in stock again, but now for $56.99. They refused to honor the order I had already placed for this. I doubt very seriously it ever went out of stock, I think they just decided they wanted to gouge customers for an extra 30% and didn't want to honor their previously sold items.

      Web site is trash. I tried changing my address, and thought it worked. For years my stuff was sent to the correct address, but then it wasn't, and they basically said too bad.

      False advertising on Black Friday Game table was advertised as 50% off Door Buster. $999 ********* 84" 3-in-1 game table for $499. I was the first person in the door on Black Friday at 5am only to find out the game table was already sold out. There was nothing in stock, 0 available! Store manager refused to sell me the display model for the advertised price too. So actually the store did have the 1 display, but refused to sell that one for the door buster advertised price. The following day on Saturday two more game tables arrived in the store now only 25% off at $799. I wasted my time on Black Friday morning with this store. No Black Friday deals for me, only a big BUST. Filed a complaint with their customer care department, but have not received an answer or even a call back as request to tell me the game table is back in stock.

      I went to buy a pair of tennishoes there and I wear a wide width. They have very little wide width shoes for women and the employees there didn't even offer to measure for size or letter width. They didn't even help find any pair at all...they pointed to a section and told me to find them myself. I left. I found a pair on line and the computer said they have them in stock but it turned out they didn't and cancelled my order without talking to me. I used gift cards to buy the shoes and the balance has not been returned yet. I called today and they said it could take a week for them to return the balance to the cards. I have no extra cash to buy shoes hence the gift cards and I needed them for a all day volleyball tournament on the 4th of November. The store sucked all around and my family will never shop their again..ever.

      DO NOT ORDER FIREARMS HERE! I ordered a CZ1012 bronze finish shotgun in April of 2023. Academy sent me a Smith & Wesson .38 Special handgun instead of my shotgun. They then asked me to reorder it, which I did. They did not send a new shotgun, but the one that had already been delivered. The shotgun case was broken on every corner, and they assured me they would have a new one shipped. As of today, September 20th, 2023, 5 months after originally ordering the firearm, the wrong case is delivered to my house. The escalation team does not care that I have waited this long, they in fact told me that I should be satisfied that Academy is trying to make things right on their end. This gun is priced $150 over what other retailers are selling this for (**** ***, getting it shipped to a pawn-shop for a $10 sign over fee). This is a JOKE of a business!! You ship me the WRONG $800 shotgun and then keep me in limbo for over 5 months! Every customer care representative has told me "we are so sorry for the inconvenience." There has not been 1 escalation team member, the ones who should really take care of the big problems customers have, like sending your customer the WRONG FIREARM! That has cared enough to call the store I picked this firearm up from. They all want to send an email from their desk, and not take any ownership of the issue. I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM ACADEMY AGAIN! You have lost more than one customer FOR LIFE!

      I understand the low reviews now. I was trying to order a firearm to ship to the store. I'm active-duty military. Being that my driver's license are from my home state (where I entered service). We aren't required to change our driver's license or vehicle tag in most states. When I say "We" I mean anyone in the military with an ID from their HOR. Most of us move around to different States throughout our career. I'm assuming that is why we don't have to change our Driver's License. We can buy a weapon in the store with documents proving where we live, but we can't make an order online. We go to the firearms desk and they tell us they can't help us make the order. They can sell us a weapon off the self, but if it's not in the store they can't help us. They (the guys in the store) are just as frustrated. I called the customer service desk and they advised it just not possible. They told me to go talk to the desk at the store. Then laughed because they knew I had already done that. The customer service person contacted the supervisor and just said due to the way online orders are there it's not possible. Even though the store advised they (customer service) has done it before. This can be a simple fix either way. Academy uses the ID me system. They could simply open that to verify someone is military and a second check to verify someone has selected the right store pickup location. Ship the weapon to the store. If the person doesn't show up with the right information still charge them the cost of shipping. The store still has the weapon to sell.

      The stores are crap. Trying to do anything online with them is horrible. Then they put out a 20% off Sitewide offer. This is a exact copy of the Exclusions.
