I have planned this job for 2 years, involving a lot of Brush Removal, Briars, some Treeing-up of trees, branch removals to clear roads, and Trees to be felled. I had a "contractor" lined up, owner named "JP" who quoted me $1,800 per day and would have a team of **************** come out. But last minute, my brother had met this guy, ***************************** out of *********, ** that he wanted me to consider and really wanted me to use. So, Late January, 2024, I called up ******, and we talked about the DAILY RATE to do the job, knowing that i did not know how many DAYS it might all take, but i was open to hearing what he had to say. He offered $5,000 for 2 days, and when I hesitated, then he called back and offered $4,500. That was still $450 MORE per day...but my brother REALLY liked the guy and wanted to help him out and give him the business. I sent photos and emails explaining that we had a lot of brush and briars and talked about trees that *** need to come down by the house and other trees. He responded agreeing to the work, in writing, and confirming his $4,500. Later I did a face-time video to show him further and then we met onsite. Everything we had discussed by phone and in writing and in person was about a DAILY RATE. After coming on Monday February 5th, he said it was more work than he thought and would "push into Friday" (his words) (i.e. 4 days), and it "could be as much as $10,000; High end, $10,000". I had sent photos, descriptions, and he road with me TWICE in person and I repeatedly showed him all of this and he assured me he had the experience, equipment and the manpower to do it all. In the end, he left large expanses of brush and briars untouched, but bullied me into paying him the balance of the $9,000 on that THURSDAY, promising to come back in 1-2 months with the right equipment to do the briars, but now says he has no intention of returning, & disavows having said so. I have proof of the work he said he'd do and proof it was not done.
