-Submitted on 5/10/23 -Complaint Narrative: **** stated that he is a member of the online crowdfunding website, Indiegogo. On May 13th, 2021, **** made a purchase through Indiegogo for a tent from a company called Crua Outdoors for $2,349. The estimated delivery for the tent was September 2021. **** was then informed by Crua Outdoors that he would not be receiving his tent and that they had returned his money to Indiegogo for a refund. ********* has told Crua Outdoors that **** has been refunded when **** has never received the funds back into his account. **** stated that he has contacted his bank and there are some "codes" showing up on his account, but they are not related to his Mastercard. **** has contacted Crua Outdoors numerous times to try and resolve the issue. Crua Outdoors has ceased contact with **** and claimed that **** had threatened them when he stated that he would like a refund, or he would be reporting the situation to the proper authorities.Sincerely,Consumer ****************************** of ********* Engagement *****************************Business response

We are Crua outdoors and Indiegogo is a separate entity. The customer created a transaction with Indiegogo and they processed the refund upon customers request. Crua were never involved in these transactions. Money isn't released to ** from Indiegogo until the campaign finishes. We ceased communication with the customer after over a year of calls. We went through every detail with Indiegogo to help the customer out and we did this on numerous occasions. 3 different staff members within our small team has tried to help but its Indiegogo's position that they have refunded this payment. On numerous occasions this customer got angry, in his own words was "ready for a fight with Crua" which we have recorded via voicemail. This customer and his "P.I." has also admitted on numerous occasions that he knows **** are not at fault and that it is in fact Indiegogo who have his money. I have attached two such email below from the customer stating this as recently as last week. He has also sent a PI to reach out to us who when asked for credentials sent a picture of his late fathers badge along with a generated badge as PI which he pulled from an online website which I used to create my own as an example below. I have attached these 3 images below. We were more than willing to help this customer and we did try but when people come forward mimicking law officials, PIs or threaten then we will cut ties and cease any assistance and leave it for legal resolution. The whole thing became deceitful. In short this customers fight is not with us but with another company. We are a small team and wasted way too much time trying to assist this individual but that assistance has gone unnoticed.
Below email was sent May 21st 2023 from the customer:
I have spoken to the Office of the Attorney General and they are willing to pursue the case. After much thought I decided to take your last conversation into consideration and simply go after Indiegogo as I do believe that you may not have been paid for my Crua AER with the Culla.
I must apologize for what may have seemed to be aggressive in nature and in no way was I threatening you. I was only trying to convey that this was a lot of money and no one seems to know where it went.
This email sent 23 May 2023 was from the guy pretending to be a PI and until my request for credentials is satisfied he will not be acknowledged
I am told by BLANK that you need documentation. In fact I worked as a State Liaison Officer at the ******************* of TDCJ and did not see any harm in presenting myself as a PI seeing that is what I had been doing with my late father who owned the Agency. I have been living in *********** for the past 4 years where unless you want a concealed carry permit (which I do not), no license is required to do Private Investigative work. I tried to assist ***** with my services as he is an old friend from the **** and I saw no harm in stepping in to try helping him out since I was familiar with the ***** **'s Office, who by the have referred me to the ** in ********. I have forwarded that info to BLANK and I believe he is going to pursue Indiegogo and he would like to work things out with you as he now believes that you are in the same position as he. Sorry for any confusion.*BLANK *has been generous in backing your campaigns and should not be the loser here. Just try to work things out with him please.
