I was moving across the country again, and wanted insurance to protect against any damages made by the moving company. I was referred to Baker Insurance by the moving company I selected. Upon arrival of my shipment, the movers lost at least four or five boxes. I initiated a claim to Baker Insurance to see how the process works and if there would be compensation for the missing boxes. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover missing items. But after I submitted the claim, I was told I would be contacted w/in one business day. Five days later I had to call and received the name of the claims agent who was handling my claim. She told me there was nothing Baker could do, but would advise me of the procedure and keep me informed. I followed up a month later, and received a back dated letter sent via email to me to let me know that I would be contacted shortly. It has now been almost two months and no one has ever contacted me. I called today and left a voice mail message for status on my claim, if any. I again received a back dated letter via email, stating the claim is now closed as the items in question were lost by the moving company. This process was protracted needlessly due to the lack of customer service. I would never consider ********************************************* for future moves. Its disappointing that they ignore the customer base that keeps them sustained.

The claim was received in our office on October 26, 2023. The claimant was contacted on October 31, 2023, and advised that per the terms and conditions of the certificate of insurance, missing items are not covered unless exceptions/notations were made at the time of delivery. No exceptions were taken; therefore, we were unable to make consideration for the missing items. A letter was drafted on November 1, 2023, detailing and explaining the settlement (which included coverage for a broken lamp). The letter was mailed to the address provided on November 3, 2023. We regret that the claimant was dissatisfied but the claim was adjusted according to the certificate of insurance and communication was made promptly.Review from Rohan S

First of all, I will give an advice. Never ever buy insurance from these crooks for your move. They are pick pocketers or robbers. They'll take your money and pay back absolutely nothing even if your moving truck was stolen, caught on fire or all items were damaged when delivered. They'll say nice things in the beginning before the move and also before delivery. After delivery, they'll send a local guy to make sure everything listed in your claim document is correct. Then he will tell you all look good and the claim will be settled in two weeks. Then it will take many months for Baker International even to contact you. Every week you contact, they'll say need further investigation, even if you reported 6 or 8 items in total including furniture. Even if the moving company, dropped, broke or stole your stuff, these insurance crooks who are hand in hand with the moving company will com up with an excuse not to pay you. Your insurance will have a premium of 700+ dollars and it will say you are covered for up to 36000$ . But in the end, the claim amount they will give you will be less than 200$ and since there is a minimum 250$ deductible, you'll get nothing, even if your claim was for 3000$. So, in addition to the items which were damaged or stolen, you will be losing the insurance premium and 3 to 4 months of arguing, complaining, sending emails and endless phone calls all to know that they cheated you big time. No idea, how these thieves got an A rating here. I am sure there are ****s of frustrated and angry customers like me who gave money to these shameless scammers and could not do much after they started playing games with these crooks . A free advice to all, if you want to move stuff across ***, just rent a Penske truck (they have better quality trucks than U-Haul and Budget), get loading and unloading service and drive. You'll have a lot of peace of mind and at least 4000$ saved, if you are moving long distance. And never trust these kind of crooked companies .
