I hired Texas Lawn Sprinklers to fix a leak in my sprinkler system 0n 2/1/2024. They repaired the leak but in attempting to shut off the doublecheck valve they damaged a cutoff valve. A few days later my sprinkler system started up spontaneously and, since i was out all day, I didn't see the sprinkler system running. Apparently it ran for several hours. My utility bill for the month of February was $1912.63.I believe they share some responsibility in this even though they disagree. I had to hire another company to repair the valve because Texas Lawn Sprinklers didn't have anyone available.Initial Complaint

On 8/2/2023 your technician came out to fix our sprinkler system that was not turning on. After checking the system out the technician said that zone 1 was not working and it would cost $305 to fix the problem. He then stated that the solenoid needed to be replaced.. After about an hour of digging then he said it would cost $770 to fix the problem up to over $1000 to fix the zone. The zone he identified as not working was bypassed 3 years ago and rewired to another zone by Texas Lawn Sprinkers and we still have the receipt of the work that was done. The technician made us sign the initial scope of work receipt for $305 or he would not even start the work. After he kept up charging the amount of work that needed to be done we decided to stop all the work. We called the office and they did not help the situation at all one they did not understand the problem and the fact that the technician misdiagnosed the problem. When we told the technician we are not going to pay for the services and to pack up his things. He cut all the wires to zone 1. We noticed that the fuse was blown in the main unit and showed it to him and he said he did not see that in the beginning. The point of all this is your technican came out and. did a bunch of unnecessary work and tried to charge us for it. Im asking for my money back because we had to call someone else out there to fix our system since he cut all the lines. I am about paying for honest and fair work. Your technician did not perform an adequate initial inspection and if he did he would have known he only needed to replace the fuse. The reason why we know it was the fuse is because we replaced it and all the other zones were working except zone 1. Im asking for a refund of $240 which is the difference of the stand service call verses the additional cost for the repair that was not done. I was charged for the technician labor for digging in my yard which I should not be responsible for. I have called numerous times into your main office and your receptionists will not allow anyone to speak to a manager. This is not acceptable business practice and all I am asking is fair and reasonable business to be conducted. Please refund the money that is owed to me.Business response

Hi *****
I wanted to send you the receipt for the fuses we purchased. I was looking for them earlier this week but could not find them so I went to Ace Hardware to get a copy of it. Ive attached the receipt and the transaction from my credit card. The service work was performed on 8/2 and we bought the fuse and replaced it on 8/4 and since the wires were cut from zone 1, we had to call the other contractor out to fix the wiring and had him replace the solenoid valve so that zone 1 would work properly and not off another zone. If the blown fuse was found initially all these other things would not have transpired. I believe it was an oversight by your technician. I dont think it was intentional but because he did not check the fuse there was unnecessary digging and trouble shooting that occurred.
Please let me know if we can agree to split the invoiced amount of $305 and you refund me the $152.50.
Regards,

? Buddy,
Just to clarify, the receipt for the repairs that was performed on our sprinklers 3 years ago only showed rewiring of the zones. This was what I tried to explain on the phone about the repair performed 3 years ago. Your previous technician did not replace the bad solenoid valve on zone 1, 3 year ago. He rewired zone 1 to work with zone 2. Zone 1 did not show up on the programmer as a working zone but the sprinklers came on when zone 2 was on. That was the rewiring that we were billed for. Zone 1 was working off the same solenoid valve as zone 2. When your technician came out on 8/2/2023 to diagnose the problem, we already knew that the solenoid valve did not work on zone 1 because it was not replaced from the first repair that was done. I appreciate your technician finding the problem again but it was not a new issue. When none of the zones came on he should have checked the fuse on the programmer., as this was the root cause of why all the zones were not working. The reason why we had to call another company out is because your technician cut all the wiring for zone 1, including the wires for zone 1 to work with zone 2 lWe were essentially back to the same issue from 3 years ago, which is zone 1 not working. I would not be so adamant to explain my side if the information provided to you are the facts.
I appreciate you reaching out to me but I wish that I did not have to go through such lengths to explain what truly happened.
I believe that a business should be paid for the work that they perform without up-charging a customer for unnecessary work. I also think they should accept responsibly for mistakes they have made.
After talking with husband we are willing to accept a refund of half of what we paid in the amount of $152.50 only to close this issue and not waste any more energy on it.
Regards,

?***********************, after reviewing your invoice and discussing the issue with ************** *****. Your invoice doesn't prove that the work performed By Garden Springs Irrigations was to repair anything you suggest that ***** created. Your Email does prove that the information for the repairs that ***** gave you was used to make the repairs from Garden Springs Irrigation and yourself.
***** gave you a solution for the issues you had with Zone 1. You also confirm in your email that the Solonoid for zone 1 was bad and you had it replaced and it fixed the issue with zone 1.
I am willing to meet you halfway through the reimbursement and refund you $120.00. This will cover the New service charge by Garden Springs Irrigation and some of the labor charges.
Again Im always looking to be fair with every customer and trying to resolve issues. If you agree to the resolvent of this issue please respond back to this email and we will issue the refund within 3-7 business days.

I am rejecting this response because:
I reached out to ***** at Texas Lawn Sprinkers on 8/31/2023 asking him for the refund of $152.50 which is half of what he already charged me, but he has not responded back. We agreed to split the costs but honestly I dont owe this company any money because they did not fix the problem. I had to hire another contractor to finish the work and charge me a fair amount. My request is not unfair or unreasonable and we did agree in writing to split the costs to close this case but he has not fulfilled his part of the agreement.Customer response
