On Saturday April 27, 2024 my wife was driving westbound on *************************** 80. All our family was in the car, me included. When we drove by a ********************** parking lot we saw a yard maintenance worker working with his weed eater on the side of the road. When we passed this worker, we heard a loud noise of something hitting our car's windshield. We immediately suspected a rock had hit the windshield. My wife drove into a restaurants parking lot ahead and I inspected the windshield. It had a **** of dirt and I could feel the chip in the windshield with my finger. I went back and the yard maintenance company, Southern Grounds Maintenance, owner ***************** came to talk to me. We talked about what had happened. His weed eaters do not have a cover to protect against frying debris. He did not seem concerned about the lack of cover. I told him he needed to take care of the windshield. He gave me his business card and asked me to call him when I got the amount to get it fixed, and that he would pay over the phone with his credit card. We went to get an estimate to replace our windshield. When we called him with the estimate of $350, ************ said he was not paying to get it replaced, he just wanted them to put sealant or gel. I am not ok with this. This is our new car and we are still paying for it, I want this company to take responsibility for the damage done. It is only fair to replace the windshield because it had no damage before this incident happened. Also if he is going to have a business he needs to make sure all the equipment/tools are safe both for his employees and anyone or anything around them. I am sure my car is not the only one with damage caused by flying rocks from this company's weed eaters.
