I am filing this complaint for several reasons. My father passed away on May 24, 2022. Shortly after his passing there were several altercations with his "wife" which was legally NOT married to my father and was married to someone else with that divorce not being finalized. I am aware that common law marriage is a thing in the state of Texas but you cannot be married to two people at once. Anyway, this funeral chapel took her word for her and my father being married and failed to look into anything further as to proving if she was married previously. A lease agreement that was probably forged (we are working with an investigator to find this out) allowed her access to make any plans and worked for his body to be released from the Medical Examiner office. Agape failed to let his real next of kin (his daughters) know that she consented on cremation. We have called numerous times and physically showed up to the location to get answers and their response is "We cannot give you any information upon her request." A few days later I was mailed a death certificate stating his deposition was cremation. Which all of that was against our wishes 110%, The only way we found out what was going on was through a death certificate. Wrong of them to do this do us. I have all documentation to prove that I am his legal daughter and am filing a complaint so that this horrific tragedy doesn't happen to another family. We are still so hurt that one, he is no longer present and two, he was cremated. Cremation was something he or my family did not believe in. We believe she did this for torture and the fact that Agape Funeral Chapel and Crematory failed to notify us or to look into any type of marriage, better yet have her provide a marriage license of her and my father (******* *******) is absolutely disgusting. Again I hope this is taken care of in a proper manner and my only hope is that they look into things like this ACCURATELY so this does not happen to anyone else.
