I visited my Dr in April and the lab used was Quest (to which I paid all money due). I have been receiving bills and nonstop phone calls from Avero stating I owe them money. I have never visited an Avero lab and my Dr does not use Avero. This is a scam.Business response

We received women's health and blood work medical samples for processing from ************************************************ on 4/13/2023 for the patient (complainant). The women's health testing was performed at Avero Diagnostics and the blood work was sent to our reference laboratory, Quest Diagnostics. Insurance paid for the women's health testing as routine screen, but applied $161.98 to the patient's deductible for the blood work. Complainant has paid the bill and has a zero balance. If additional information is needed, the patient can contact our billing department at **************.Initial Complaint

I received a bill from Avero for Labs for the date of 1/31/23 for my well woman visit. I verified with my ***************** that the bill was paid in full and that I owe nothing. Avero sent me a bill for ******. They also called me today and wanted me to verify my identity to them, which I of course refused. I'm not sure if this is an outright scam or just a shady business. I am concerned if I do nothing they will try to file this with the credit bureau. I cant engage with them because they might be scam artists trying to gather my personal informationInitial Complaint

I received a bill saying I owe 259.25, not covered by insurance. I have tried emailing and calling to get this resolved for a week with no response. This was lab results for fully covered individual for a well woman exam (should be fully covered at no cost to me per the Affordable Care Act ). My insurance company shows no fee owed as well as my OBGYN office. Furthermore, they coded tests incorrectly with inflated charges. Avero needs to correct their billing mistake I do not owe anything for the preventive healthcare that I have a right to at no cost according to the Affordable Care Act. My insurance is showing I owe nothing and OBGYN office. Please correct billing to show I owe $0.Business response

I was instructed by my doctor to contact an Avero representative to obtain a quote for genetic testing for my pregnancy. I contacted the individual and, was asked a series of questions, and was told that my testing would cost only $200. This testing was completely optional but, based on the quote provided, I opted to move forward with the testing. After the testing was complete, I received a bill for $850!! I contacted my prior contact and she said that I could still have the bill adjusted to $200 so long as I make a few omissions/misstatements on my paperwork to be submitted to Avero. Specifically, she instructed me to use an adjusted (fake) income and state that I have 3 members in my house rather than 2 (to include my unborn baby). I did not feel comfortable lying on the paperwork and did not do so. Instead, I called Avero and asked for a good faith adjustment and they refused. It is unacceptable, and borderline fraudulent, that Avero is allowing its representatives to bait-and-switch mothers-to-be who obtain a quote, move forward with the testing based on that quote, receive a bill for over FOUR TIMES the quote amount months later, and who are then told they can only obtain the quoted price if they later lie on paperwork.Initial Complaint

I was billed $200 for 2 COVID tests. The COVID tests should be 100% covered by insurance, and has been covered at the same facility on another occasion. My insurance information was provided at the time of testing and also mailed back to avero in response to the bill. Instead of correcting their error, they sent it to collections. I am not responsible for these bills.Business response
