I contacted Bunker automotive around July/August due to my motor was shaking and told ***(***** Wife/Receptionist)I had prevouisly took my truck to another shop(Gregs Automotive in *************)to get diagnosised and stated it was the camshaft and cylinder/piston,but would likley be a ********* needed.I wanted to get a price from Bunkers Automotive on what the cost will be for what the other shop diagnosised( Gregs automotive).Mia Stated they would have to diagnosis/ break down to see actual cause is and if needing a new motor. The break down cost was $240,which I ********************* to pay even though I told them that I knew what the cause was from the other mechanic(Gregs automotive in ************* **)and had diagnoisis paperwork from other shop to show Bunkers and stated to bunkers that if it was gonna need motor like ***************************** stated to let me know so that we can just look for motor instead of wasting time and money on other part(in there words give me the worst case senerio).Once Bunkers diagnosised ***** stated it was the camshaft and would cost $3000 to fix and I reassured ***** was he sure due to other shop stated truck would need motor due to cylinder/piston getting air and stated no this would fix the issue. So we proceeded with the fix around 8/11/22 and est $ $2360 was given and had a balance of $640.About few days later truck was done and stated oil was changed as well and ready for pick up,remainder balance was paid. Then around Sept 9th the truck startd to act the same as before I took into Bunkers Automotive. He changed oil at that time and and truck was acting the same and then stated to me that truck was going to need a motor due to piston/cylinder, which I had previsoly told him, he gave me est and asked would my money be used that I had paid be used toward motor and instructed no.Which ***** stated this never happened where he missed something like this , when I had given and told him what other shop had stated and after he did a $240 break down.I asked well can we at least apply half of what we paid for other parts and did not state anything other then he would look for a used and new motor which was around begginning of Novemeber.I still have not go any response or refund or composition for the missed diagnosised work.I am asking for a refund or at least half my money back for the trouble of miss diagnosis and dishonesty of the work needed of my truck.

We were notified of the Complaint on 3/6/2023 by the BBB. This was the first time we had heard of an issue with this customer. I pulled our records out to see what initial visit was plus what work was recommended. We have been in business for 8yrs and have treated every customer fairly we strive to go above and beyond, I understand we can not please every customer but everything we say we do gets done and plus some. Our Techs have over a 50yrs combined Professional Experience in the Automotive Business. All the work was done last year between 7/25/2022 and 10/5 plus being stored for a whole month until the decision was made to pick up with no work moving forward. Which we did not charge extra storage cost that most shops do.
According to my notes and invoices
7/25/2022 Customer drove vehicle from another shop for estimate on repair. According to customer had taken it to 2 other shops prior to us. Customer concern was Check Engine Light Flashing , Ticking Sound and could not drive over 40mph.
Once Vehicle got to the shop, it was Evaluated and Our Recommendation was to tear down to point of failure because something was internally wrong in the Motor, Gave customer tear down cost and made aware that the cost of tear down could be put toward repair to fix. At tear down it was found miss fire #3 that the lifter had collapsed and flattened camshaft.  Our next recommendation was to replace all Lifters and Camshaft along with Head Gaskets, Head Bolts,Timing Cover Gasket and ****** **** filter, motor oil and Coolant). Lifters (Intake and Exhaust ) and Camshaft purchased at ****** Dodge. Gave Customer Estimate and customer approved.
8/11/2022 Vehicle was complete and customer picked up. We asked customer to return to us at next Oil Change at no cost to customer so we could inspect for any abnormalities. Customer Agreed.
9/9/2022 Customer Brought back for the *********** all was inspected and Oil Drained looked Normal. No Check Engine Light on or Miss Fire at this time.  All Both Customer and Tech were please by work that was completed.
9/28/2022 Customer Texted that there was an issue.  The truck was shaking. Customer was told to get vehicle back to us to Evaluate.
10/3/2022 Vehicle Came back . The Check Engine Light was on and Scanned code came up that #5 cylinder had a miss fire. Inspected and Found out that #5 had Excessive Fuel in the Cylinder . Appeared it had Hydro Locked due to Stuck Injector and Broke the Piston. A Completely New and Separate Problem. Customer informed that the motor would need to be replaced. Gave Estimate for New and Used Motor.
Beginning of November Customer Picked up Truck and Drove Away. They Were going to decide what they were going to do. That was the last Had Any Communication with them.

I am rejecting this response because:

Thank you for the update. The up above statement sounds correct of parts of our conversation due to text messages I do have, other then the statement of the misfire due to my husband ***** had spoken over the phone with *************** ( *****) about the misfire, it was the same one I had told **************** about when the vehicle was dropped off with showing paperwork from the previous shop statement and the diagnosis never changed it was the same cylinder misfiring and at that time is when he stated that this NEVER had this happen to him before of the misdiagnosis and believed everything was fixed , when again I did let **************** know of needing a new motor from the beginning but when the break down was done and paid in full to ***** ( ***************) stated it could be fixed with the cost of $3000 parts and oils that were needed, which I agreed to pay of course due to guarantee of work and his knowledge of vehicles and trusting his word of fixing the vehicle without replacing motor. As for storage , we did not keep there due to trying to decide, we had not picked up due to pending decision of what could be done and cost of motor and what ***** ( ***************) could do ( make right , since this NEVER happening) and never got response other than before picking up the vehicle that he would let us know due to he was looking and seeing what he can do.We took vehicle due to did not want to keep at shop if there would be storage fees due to pending *************** response, which still today have never heard anything else back and being in service for 8 yrs and guarantee his work from the beginning running correctly and their mechanics having 50 years of experience would have known that a misfire cylinder leads a new motor and not being fixable.

      Thank you

      Regards,
