I've tried to schedule a temporary disconnect so I can install a backup generator for over a week. I've called 4 times, and each time I get a different response. The first response was that an inspector would get in touch with me within a couple of days, the next was that an inspector would contact me within another couple of days, the third was that they could disconnect the next day but that they would need at least 24 hours after the temporary disconnect to schedule an inspection and authorize a reconnect, and the last was that all the 3 previous responses were wrong and that they'd need to inspect both before and after and wouldn't be able to schedule an inspector to 2 to 3 weeks. This makes it impossible to schedule the generator install, and worse, the various timeframes they've given me indicate that my family could be without power for 2 to 3 weeks between inspections. We had some time ago tried to get solar panels installed, and were told that Magic Valley would not permit any of the buy-back incentives at all. I'd switch providers, but they have a monopoly in the area. My impression is that because of their monopoly, they are slow to respond to any service requests that could impact their revenue.

MVEC scheduled and completed a temporary disconnect for member on July 3, 2024.  The timeline given to member was incorrect as the employee that spoke with member did not know what kind of permits, if any were needed.

Regarding buying back power from members that generate power, MVEC does not buy back power, instead we credit member on a 1 to 1 basis for any excess energy that they produce during the day for the member's billing.  Due to operating cost that are associated with serving member, MVEC does not buy back an excess power at the end of the member's billing cycle.

I enrolled in auto pay to pay my bill each month. My credit card is on their online system. My service got disconnected for no payment. I never got an email or a notice in the mail about missed payments, over due accounts, or a disconnection notice. I received my statement like normal each month and assumed they were paid on time because I never got a notification that I was late or had a missed payment. They want to charge me a disconnection fee without ever providing a disconnection notice.

MVEC has contacted the Mr. ****** and explained that payment information was saved on the account, however, Mr. ****** did not enroll the account on recurring payment and therefore the payment was not charged to his credit card.  MVEC has gone ahead and waived late fees and reconnect fee for Mr. ******.

      Thank you,

We have been put of power for days, when we contact them their employees are rude and incompetent like the company. We have no other option but to keep using this incompetent company and I ask for a replacement or to take down this monopoly so other companies can come in and provide power.

After reviewing member's account, we can determine that Mrs. ********* was out of power due to storms that had affected our service area.  Storms hit MVEC service area on April 29th and disrupted service to over 50,000 members.  MVEC worked through the weekend and into the week to get everyone back on.  Certain members did not have power restored until Tuesday evening (5/2) due to downed power line poles.
