We just had a new fence installed by Recon Fence and are unhappy with it. We ordered a Cedar fence from your company, and we did NOT get a Cedar fence. We ordered a new 6ft Cedar Board on Board Fence for about 100 ft of fencing. We're finding out now that Japanese Cedar is NOT real cedar. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND JAPANESE CEDAR TO ANYONE NOW!!! Japanese Cedar is a cypress tree and NOT a real cedar tree. Spending nearly $5 grand for FAKE CEDAR boards is a total ripoff when you can get a regular Pine boards for much less. To call Japanese Cedar a cedar is a misnomer. We thought we were getting real cedar. This explains why a large number of boards you installed were cracking and the boards are also full of large knots, which will eventually become holes. Real cedar does NOT crack like this. We were NOT expecting you to cut corners like this with very low quality wood for a small backyard. You would never use Japanese Cedar to build a fence at your own house so why would you be installing this garbage at other people's houses? Japanese Cedar is brittle and cracks easily. There are large cracks in the boards you installed ranging from 10 to 30 inches. This is not acceptable! Nobody wants a bunch of cracked boards. Other customers are having the same problems. These large cracks will only get worse and the boards will have to be replaced again soon. We asked you to replace the rest of the boards with cracks and holes and you refused to do so. The kickboard looks faded like something out of salvage yard with ugly green mold on it when it was installed. The railings look old & have very large ugly knots in it too. It looks like an old dingy fence. We ordered a Cedar fence from your company, and we did NOT get a Cedar fence.
