On April 24th I went into the MTCU on ******* to Stop payment for ******* that had been voluntarily been coming out of my savings account. However, I had decided to take a loss on that particular deal and so I went in to fill out the proper paper work and pay the $34.00 fee to stop the payment that was due to come out of my account on May 8th. It took a while because the one of the tellers was on training and the trainer was showing it how as 'stop payment' was done. The two tellers went back and forth trying to figure it out. They gave me a form to sign to stop the payment of ******* to come out of my savings. I trusted it was done and left the bank. On May 8th, I noticed the money was transferred out as if there was no 'stop payment' in place. I called MTCU and reported deduction from my account, it took several calls back and forth for them to tell me the 'stop payment' was not done correctly due do the "new teller". A day later I got a call from 'Kit' and she told me I needed to go in and sign the correct paper work, that the new teller had given me the wrong paper to sign. So I went in on May 10th and signed the supposedly correct paper work. On May 11th the money was back in my Savings account. On May the 15th the ******* dollars was reversed back to ***** ********** because ******, the man we had the cancelled contract with put a 'Stop payment' on his end and my money was released back out of my account. So ********************** say they are not responsible for what occurred, they take no responsibility for the inexperienced tellers. We had tired to get in touch with ******, I have called ***** Fargo to no avail. No one will speak to me, least of all ***** Fargo. Kit for MTCU tells me they cannot call ***** Fargo because they are "a little credit union and ***** Fargo is a big bank". At this point, who is responsible for the money, I trusted MTCU and now they will not even help me get my money back. I did everything that was expected in a 'stop payment' transaction, MTCU did not. If you have any questions, please call me, I hope you can help me. I hope to get the ******* dollars back in my savings account. They have not even refunded my $34.00 charge for the 'stop payment' fee.

Mtcu has repeatedly deducted money from my account at a different bank for a car loan that has been paid off. The deductions are automatic. In January I went into Mtcu to cancel these deductions. The deduction occurred again in February. I again was given the run around. The transaction occurred again in March. Mtcu gave me my money each time but the excuse from Mtcu about why the money continues to be withdrawn is because my cancellation form has yet to be filed into their system after two months. I put a stop payment on Mtcu at my other bank institution. I went to Mtcu on 3/14/23 to close out my savings account and get a refund for the $30 stop payment I was forced to pay. I was told I would be getting my remaining balance from my savings account (around 25 dollars) plus the $30 refund. It is now 3/25 with no amount of money paid. It is my money and they are withholding it from me. A bank keeping your own money away from you when you want to leave is beyond ridiculous, unprofessional, and absolutely absurd. I have tried every avenue including calling the ** of operations to no avail. Not sure what else to do at this point. So maybe filing a complaint to warn others against using this fraudulent bank will at least help warn my community. I work hard for my money and to be treated like this from this local bank has me worried what else they could be doing to all the other people in my community. Hold this bank accountable for the service they claim they strive to serve in their mission statement.

We apologize for this situation.  Upon researching, we found that the paperwork was not routed properly, and therefore the cancellation of the automatic payment was not completed in a timely manner.  **************** was notified, this was corrected.  Management agreed and was willing to pay the courtesy refund for the inconvenience.  When closing an account, there are quite a few processes that need to be completed. It typically can take up to ten business days. But after the initial situation, we can understand the added frustration. This was not our desired service level, and we are so sorry.  If you would like to speak to a manager or anyone else at MTCU, you are welcome to connect with *********************** at ************  or ************************* at ************.
