We hired this company to move us from our rental back into our home after we had major house flooding. We were displaced for 6 months while repairs were made. When these guys moved us back in, they failed to hook up our washer properly and our house flooded AGAIN since our washer is upstairs. We immediately let them know what the issue was and were called back by a guy named Jesus who told us they messed up and would cover the cost of the repairs. It's been since April, and after several attempts to recoup the repair fees, we had to hire a lawyer to try and get the repairs paid for. STILL have not received a response, and will be taking them to court in a couple of weeks. We just wanted the cost of the repairs covered back in April, as they said they would do (because "that's what they have insurance for" they said)... sadly they will be on the hook for much more now, including our legal fees. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! Contracts mean nothing to them!!!!Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/11/18) */ This claim has been reported to the insurance company. Even though our contract says we cannot be held responsible for any flooding and signed by customer. We are still in positive motion towards this customer concern we handed it over to the insurance company to resolve the complaint. we care for our ratings and customer satisfaction. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/11/21) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The contract specifically states the movers cannot be held liable for broken pipes causing flooding, there were no broken pipes, the washer simply was not hooked up properly. This is the exact verbiage from our contact: "We can connect/hook up washers, electric dryers, and refrigerators that we disconnect as part of the same move; however, we cannot be held responsible for damage to pipes, hoses, or vents, including but not limited to cracks and leaks, or water damage due to leaks or flooding." Our lawyer has reviewed the contract and determined the moving company failed to adequately perform its duties under the contract between both parties and as such has breached our contract. "The MacDonnells are "consumers" within the meaning of the DTPA. Today Movers, its agents and employees used or employed false, misleading, or deceptive acts or practices enumerated in §§ 17.46(b)(5), (7), (12), (20), and (24) of the DTPA, has breached its express and implied warranties to The MacDonnells in violation of §17.50(a)(2) of the DTPA. Today Movers and its agents and employees knowingly engaged in false, misleading and deceptive acts or conduct, breaches of express and implied warranties, negligence and course of action described in this demand. Therefore, the MacDonnells are entitled to treble damages pursuant to §17.50(b)(1) of the DTPA. Additionally, Today Movers was negligent in leaving the drain pipes unconnected to the washer, breached their duty to the MacDonnells and as a result, flooded their home and caused significant damage." There has been no communication from Today Movers in months, which is why we have had to file BBB complaints and retain legal counsel.
