I signed up for a family plan with Maxx Fitness in April of this year. They were running a summer special with no monthly fee until the end of August 2023. After using the facility and not having access to most machines on numerous occasions I decided I no longer wanted the membership. When I signed up for the membership I asked all the important questions because this facility is not for saying one thing and doing another to military families here in our town. I asked them if I wanted to cancel I would be charged and I was told that if I canceled during the free months I would not be charged as long as I gave them a 30-day notice. I went to the front counter in July to cancel and was told I had to go online and send an email (not what they initially told me) but I sent the email the same day. I then received a notification that I had to pay $99 although I canceled during the free months. I brought it to their attention and was told they would look into it. I kept receiving phone calls about the balance and explained what was going on and still, they told me they would look into it.. I have now begun to receive calls from a collection agency stating that Max Fitness has sent my account to collections and now they want me to pay $2008.50 or they will send it to collections. I think it's absurd that they do this to military families on a continuous basis and threaten to send it to our credit report. This needs to be resolved ASAP as this is bad business
