We bought a 2018 Land Rover discovery sport limited around November 25,2023 Within a week the problems began. They neglected to disclose the over 20k worth of repairs needed on it..So either they deliberately didn't disclose the problems or they didn't inspect it in any way before selling it., I was told by 3 different mechanics that it was a very unsate, dangerous and one actually said deadly car..I have called many times only to be told someone will call me back. No one has. I went up there and have not been able to speak anyone..I keep getting the run around. My mechanic has urged me to hire a lawyer. I really don't want to go down that route but I'm starting to think I may have no choice.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of this complaint that just is not true.  Mr. ******************** purchased a vehicle from us in November of 2023. At that time he purchased an AS-IS vehicle, with known issues, and issues were disclosed to Mr ********************.  Please see attached documents.  A We-Owe document that is signed by Mr ******************** that states there is nothing owed and nothing requested to be done to the vehicle.  A Used Car Buyers Guide that is signed by Mr ******************** stating there is absolutely no warranty for the vehicle being purchased as well as a list of common items that can be an issue with the vehicle.  Finally an AS-IS Vehicle buyers policy that states in bold there is ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY on this vehicle, all sales are final, no refund and no exchanges.  The form also states this vehicle is a "FIXER UPPER" that will NEED REPAIR(in bold and underlined) and is best suited for someone willing to spend time and money reconditioning it.  The form also encourages the customer to take it to their own shop or mechanic for inspection prior to purchasing it.  All forms were signed by Mr ********************.  These vehicles are sold "wholesale to the public" and are significantly discounted and fully disclosed to the customer.  Mr ******************** came back after the purchase and asked us to remove the vehicles aftermarket antitheft device he purchased based on Land Rover's recommendation.  We did at no charge to Mr ********************.  We never heard anything else from Mr ********************.  In February Mr ******************** came back in looking to trade the vehicle in to us for another vehicle.  We were not able to complete that transaction and we had not heard from Mr ******************** since.  We received the complaint today and wanted to respond immediately to give an accurate account of what had taken place.  We sell vehicles new, used with factory warranty, used with no warranty but with the option to buy a service contract(extended warranty), and used with no option to buy one.  We sell those fully disclosed with signed documentation.

I apologize for the misunderstanding or miscommunication.  We always want our customers to have the best experience possible.  You know this as much as anyone being that you have bought a number of vehicles from us.  I am having a little trouble following the timeline provided in the complaint.  It states that you came in on Wednesday the 17th, Would have money by Friday the 19th, but then after keeps referring to Friday the 17th.  What you described as your experience was not what I remembered so I went back and did some research to make sure I had accurate information.

You originally came in on November 5th to look at a different vehicle and had yours appraised and had a large amount of negative equity.  You then came back on November 12th and did not complete the deal.  You came back on the 13th and we bailed you in the vehicle and we worked on the financing at your instruction to see what could be done to get you approved on the vehicle with your negative equity.  You were bailed in the truck over the weekend, which we don't normally do.  You also did not come back in the truck when you were supposed to and did not show up until Wednesday the 17th.  ****** spoke to you on Monday and gave you the choice of the approvals $1000 down at a longer term with a lower payment or $0 down at a shorter term and a higher payment.  You stated that you could not pay the higher payment and would take the lower payment with $1000 down.

You did not come in the next day, Tuesday, like you were supposed to.  You had our truck for almost a week.  You did come back in on Wednesday the 17th but proceeded to try and start re-negotiating your deal.  We declined because there was nothing else we could do.  You had far too much negative equity from trading in your vehicles repeatedly.  The banks would not extend loans and roll that much negative equity into them.  We again agreed to the approved deal with $1000 down but you then no longer wanted to put any money down.  That was not possible, then you wanted to put nothing down that day and $500 by Friday and the other $500 by the end of the following week.  We explained that we couldn't do that.  You left, did not purchase the vehicle, and did not put a deposit down on the vehicle to keep it.  You then showed back up on Friday the 19th but still only wanted to put down $500 and float the other $500 until the following week.  We again explained that we could not do that and you declined to still buy the truck.  Another customer was here and bought the vehicle completely by signing and putting their down payment down on the vehicle.  It had nothing to do with making money.

You then stated to the salesman that you could get an attorney involved and you signed a contract to buy the truck.  This is the exact reason why we cannot take partial down payments complete a transaction.  You at that point could try to get out of paying your down payment because you show a completed purchase with down payment when in fact you had not given it.  We worked with you for over two weeks on a deal, severely discounted the truck even during the current inventory shortage, let you drive it for almost a week and did everything we said we were going to do.  You continued to agree and then back out on what you said.  This is also another reason we don't hold vehicles with no deposit on them.  It's very likely you would have tried to negotiate again and then back out of the deal when we have been turning customers away.

We take care of our customers, we are fair, we provide good inventory for our customers to purchase, we are locally owned and owners are onsite.  We will do whatever we can to accommodate our customers but there are certain areas we can only go so far.  We will remedy this situation in any way that is fair.

Bought a used truck from them on 7/20/21. When I looked over the truck again on 7/24/21 found that the windows will not roll up in the back and can only be rolled up from the driver's seat. The shocks are missing the rubber bushings in the rear and now rattle. Also when you go to turn the truck the rack and pinion locks up and will not allow the truck to steer. This issue caused me to almost hit 3 vehicles and almost run in a ditch. The truck was in the shop for 2-1/2 months with the front end out of it. They refuse to make things right and have put me and my family in grave danger. Now I'm stuck with a truck that I am unable to drive due to this issue. Was stated that when I bought it it had a 3 month warranty on the repairs. They refuse to stand behind there work and word and make it right. All they can say is yall were happy with it when yall left.

We are in no way trying to sell a truck and not stand behind it.  The reason is because we go overboard to explain what you are buying and what risk you are assuming.  There was no warranty on this truck.  The only warranty that would apply would be the warranty of the specific parts that were replaced on the vehicle.  We sold an 8 year old vehicle with nearly 100k miles on it to Mr **********.  This vehicle was heavily modified with a large lift and 37 inch tires that voids any kind of manufacturer warranty and makes it ineligible for additional coverage.  It also had lots of other aftermarket parts and work done to it. Mr ********** was aware of all of those things when he decided to purchase it, when he decided to wait for weeks for us to complete work on the vehicle and when he came to the store in person and inspected, drove and took delivery of the vehicle.  We spent over $3900 performing repairs to the vehicle and stayed in constant communication with him about what repairs were being performed.  We had continued delays with repairs to the vehicle because of the extreme amount of modifications to the vehicle.  Mr ********** had ample opportunity to back out from buying the truck knowing the issues that were taking place with repairs to the vehicle.  Mr ********** was told multiple times that this was an 8 year old truck with nearly 100k miles on it and a large lift, wheels and tires and is not going to be like a new truck or even like a stock used truck.  Once repairs were completed Mr ********** and his family came to the dealership, spent well over an hour driving the truck, inspecting the truck, looking under the truck, etc.  Mr ********** inquired about some additional repairs to the vehicle to which we declined and told him no more work would be done to the truck.  He was also told that the truck was being sold to him AS-IS, with no warranty, no repairs would be performed after the sale, even if it was the next day.  He was also told he would not be able to purchase any warranty coverage for the vehicle because of the modifications to the vehicle.  He would be buying the truck as it sits with no coverage provided or available and if there were any issues they would be wholly on him.  When we send these vehicles to the auction\wholesale them, like we sold it to Mr **********, they are as-is and they do not come back.  With knowing everything I stated previously, Mr ********** decided to move forward with the purchase, go to the business office and give us $14,000 of his money as a down payment, finance the rest of the purchase, and take delivery of the vehicle that day.  Now 4 days later repairs are being requested.  Mr ********** was made fully aware of of all aspects of this purchase and still wanted the truck.  I have attached signed documentation that the vehicle was sold AS-IS with no warranty, that no warranty was purchased, that nothing was owed or promised, that the sale is final.

We cannot spend anymore money on this truck, nor should we have to based on all of the information above and the attached documents.  What I am willing to do is to have our Chevrolet store look at the vehicle and repair it for him at our net cost(no profit, no markup to us) and at Mr **********'s expense.  We will diagnose it at no charge to the customer, we will give him an estimate with no markup and he can decide if he wants to do the repair.  If not there will be no charge for the diagnostic.

      Complaint: 15701978

I am rejecting this response because: the salesman stated that there was a 3 month warranty on ALL repairs done (and haven't received documents of what has been done as I was told I would by the salesman). He also stated that he would see what he could do about getting issues fixed. He stated that he could not put this on the paperwork since he didn't know if it would be approved. The salesman stated that he and  the Chevrolet dealer service department knew of this issue prior to it being sold and went on to tell me that it was due to lift and tires. After further investigation with me contacting multiple companies, this issue is not supposed to be like this and that lift and tires have nothing to do with the issue. Secondly i know for a fact that the front end and rack and pinion were out of the truck when i first came and looked at it and was told it would be fixed (they were replacing the front differential). this was far from being correct. if yall couldn't correct it the first time the truck was in the shop why would i spend anymore money with yall? yall already screwed me for $30,000 and yall want more money.. I don't think so.

      Sincerely,

      ***** **********
