HORRIBLE STAFF!!!! Get it together!!!! I have never experienced such poor communication in set up for an appointment I want to laugh!!! ******** had to justify sending me an email of paper work I told her I never got, she said it probably went to my junk or spam? Then emails kept coming ridiculous so strange. Anyone who does professional billing will let someone know what type of payment they need to have. Im disgusted that this place still exists.Review from Dane M

It's been said that reading negative reviews on a site like the BBB can be skewed, because most satisfied customers don't post information, only those who have had a poor experience share those. If you're vetting a therapy facility, read and heed this review. I am not the patient who experienced the truly uncaring service, it was my spouse. In my mind that makes it all the more heinous when a company is charged with striving to assist with emotional and mental issues, and instead they only make them worse through a completely unprofessional and callous business model. For me it's a worse experience, because now my spouse is wary of ALL therapists, which is borderline criminal in my opinion. Like many of the 1 star reviews on this site, she experienced an office staff that almost seemed to be going out of their way to be difficult. Missed appoints, appointments suddenly cancelled, and literally no alignment on flexibility that the wife had shared with her by the Gearings who assured her they would "work with her schedule" as she is a fellow healthcare provider. That ended promptly after the first appointment. After over 10 weeks of formulaic therapy with no sharing of skills and little results, she finally had enough when they cancelled yet another visit with no notice. This period cost us close to $4,000 for literally no new skills, and a new dent in her confidence at the hands of those who were supposed to be helping. We must now start over, with my getting my spouse to trust the process again, which will be no easy feat. We are also challenging some of the mystery ******** we are seeing on the roll up of charges we requested. In truth we don't expect to get any response from that, and in all likelihood, probably more stonewalling. If you're seeking mental health support for yourself or a loved, this is the last place you should consider. Freely admitting this is the same review I left on the Gearing Up Yelp page - the facts are all the exact same.Review from Bill S

The management of this office is terrible. They were notified from our insurance provider that testing would not be covered, neglected to inform us and went ahead with testing. After 2 weeks of visits we have an unexplained charge and when I expressed my dissatisfaction the office manager cancelled service. I will now have to pay over $400 for testing with no results given.Review from Jose M

The whole process from the beginning is overwhelming. Not meant for people with anxiety. They make you meet with countless people and explain all of your traumas and background to everyone. They make you have two appointments a week so they can charge insurance for each visit. My therapist was super sweet, but the office itself is an abomination. My therapist mistook the time we had out zoom session booked and didn't make it to the correct time. The next day, I get a call from ******** saying I need to make up the appointment without giving me a reason. She scheduled it with another therapist, without telling me and when I called her to tell her i was not comfortable meeting with someone new she just said "it needs to be made up" and hung up the phone. I emailed the clinical director and expressed my concerns and wanted a reason why I needed to make up the appointment and ******, office manager calls and leaves a voicemail saying ******************* (clinical director) emails are routed to her and my appointment needs to be made up. I responded with an email asking for real reason WHY and never got a response. The following day, I discover I was charged $80 for missing an appointment and when I called the office ****** returned my call by saying I never responded to her call and that she never stated it was required to make up and also the emails that are supposedly routed to her are mysteriously gone or in the trash because she has no recollection of them. I forwarded her the emails and attached the voicemail she left, that contradicted everything she said in the phone call. Very unprofessional and they prey on those in their most vulnerable state.Review from Tiffany H

-On 12/9 I received an email and voicemail that they had to reschedule a "parent meeting" from Mon. 12/12 to Thurs. 12/15. On Mon. 12/12 I get an email with the link to parent meeting. I emailed ****** asking what was going on and that it had been rescheduled. I get a response the parent conference was still on the schedule and that my son's (previously scheduled) appt for Thursday was scheduled as well. I asked what the email and voicemail on 12/9 was for and never got a response. (thankfully I saw that email with the link and didn't miss the appointment that I thought was rescheduled!). My son had a therapy appointment in the evening on 12/12. We show up and no one was there to see us. We sat there for 30 over minutes and were never seen. I emailed ****** again, asking what happened???? I sent her both the email and the voicemail from 12/9 that both said the parent conference was rescheduled, and I get a "I'll look into this!" and never got another response on that matter.
-On 12/2 I get an email saying there were issues with my insurance. I emailed back with what I thought could be the issue. (My son's name changed to my married name. However, it wasn't supposed to go in effect until 1/1/23.) I received a very prompt "Thanks!" and didn't hear anything else about it. I felt I had no reason to think it wasn't resolved. Fast forward to the week of 12/12 and I start seeing these massive amounts being charged to my card.. I ask for my statements and TWO DAYS later I receive them. 1/2
That's when I find out that their insurance issue wasn't resolved and they were charging me self-pay rates. I sent an email trying to figure out *** is going on, why isn't insurance being billed, I cant afford self-pay rates... and instead of getting a response to this... they canceled my upcoming personal appointment AND DIDN'T TELL ME. Skip to the week of 12/19 and ****** FINALLY let's me know that my appointment was canceled because I said in my email that I couldn't afford it. At this point "we" decided that I would put all of my son's and my appointments on hold until the insurance issue was figured out. When I spoke to my insurance company, they let me know there was no issue to begin with and there shouldn't have been any problems and let ****** know. On 12/27 I get an email asking again about my insurance and again let her know there is nothing going on with it and had them call her and they left her a voicemail to contact them. Instead of addressing that, I get a response telling me that in order for my son's appointment spots to remain open I would have to take care OF A BALANCE. I let them know that I will take care of any balance that remains after the insurance issue is resolved. I don't hear anything for a few days, so I asked what's going on, 2 days later I'm told they finally figured it out AND that they have removed my son's spot on the schedule. AND I get a payment request for a "missed appointment" fee for a group appt on 12/28.... The week AFTER I said I wasn't taking any appointments. When I ask about that on 1/3, I get no response. I asked again on 1/9 and 1/10 and am told "I'll look into it". Then to my surprise on 2/13 I get a notification from my bank that I had been charged for that missed appointment. So, now 2 months later, I am still dealing with this. 2/20Review from Michelle H

We have been to other counseling services for my daughter and never had a problem. I understand how billing works with counseling offices; if a mistake has ever happened, it has always been quickly sorted. This is the worst center we have ever dealt with. They misbill you and reach into your account and take what they want, and when they are wrong, it takes an endless amount of calls and emails to rectify it! I was billed $400 erroneously, and it took me a month to get it back. Then when we left their program, they quickly overbilled ** again. It took many phone calls, and we still have one bill we have never been refunded for. Gearing Up is one big billing racket; they will tell you they will look into it and call you back and never do. Ignoring billing questions is how they do business. Do not give these people your account information; it will be your worst nightmare!
