Issue regarding defect in workmanship at our home, specifically installation of new support beam installed on or around September 20th 2022. Factual Background: ****** ****** was hired to do a major Kitchen remodel starting in Sept. 2022 which included removing a load bearing wall with a cost paid of around $60,000 for the project. Engineer report outlining scope and specifications for installing a beam to replace the support of a load bearing wall to be removed was supplied to ****** ******. ****** was present at the time of this inspection and discussed with the engineer. This report contained three options that would provide sound support of the structure. ****** ****** assured homeowners that they were qualified to do this work, and would follow the instructions and guidelines provided in the engineering report. Full remodel project was completed on or about November 2nd 2022. On or about December 23rd 2022, cracks in ceiling sheetrock, molding, and wall tile were notice by home owners. Engineering was called out to inspect to see what was causing the issue. Upon inspection on December 30th 2022, Engineer noted that the beam that was installed did not meet the specifications called for in the report supplied prior to work being done, and only supplied about half the support needed for the structure. Homeowner contacted ****** ****** on or about December 30th 2022 and advised of the issue. ****** called back that afternoon and told homeowner that he was broke, had no money to correct this issue, and the person he had working with him on the project and he are not on speaking terms. He said he was sorry this happened, but had no way to correct the issue. He said he may be able to help with the cosmetics replacing sheetrock, paint, tile, etc, but did not have the knowledge to correct this main issue with the improper beam installed.
