Purchased A/C unit just under a year ago. At the time of purchase, we were told that in order for it to be covered under warranty, that we would have to replace all ductwork. This jumped the price from the $12,000 plus range to the $17,000 plus range. When we filed our claim with the insurance, we were told that was not true and we should not have had to replace all of the ductwork to be covered under warranty. We also paid for the company to come out and service the equipment. Each time, there is something that needed a charge. Yesterday was the inching on the cake! After all of the lies and costs, thousands of wasted dollars, we were told that due to a loose connection or faulty equipment, our refrigerant leaked out. We were informed that the parts are covered under warranty; however, we have to pay almost $800 to refill the refrigerant. This is insane! Why are we having to pay for the negligence of a company that lied and over charged us already. They connected everything and have been servicing the equipment. We have not touched any of it! How is this our fault and why should we be penalized?

When the decision was made by ******************** to replace his unit with Republic, we gave him several options to consider. The price ranges were probably from $12,000 to over $17,000 at that time but the difference in the prices was not a complete duct replacement. As you can see from the attached invoice, we did not perform a complete duct replacement. Republic installed a high efficiency AC per ************************ request with one duct increase. The reason for this one return air duct increase was to correct what is called static pressure, guarantee the system would be installed per manufacture specifications and not cause warranty issues in the future due to an incorrectly installed system. ******************** being the responsible homeowner is having both of his systems serviced and the needed charges during these visits were for filters and the needed repair estimates presented to ******************** were for his main house system NOT the system we replaced. (see attached invoices and estimates) Unfortunately, the system that was installed by Republic at ************************ home developed a leak at the indoor coil and the coil needed to be replaced. The 10-year warranty covered this part and most of the labor but does not cover the refrigerant need to refill his system nor the recharge fee. Republic is currently working with ************************ insurance company to reopen his claim and hopefully get him a reimbursement. Per the phone conversation between Republic and ******************** we guaranteed him that if we could not get him the insurance money from his original claim that we reopened for him then he would not have to pay the $800, normally this repair would be more than $2000 without the labor warranty. Please advise if Republic should stop perusing the insurance claim or continue.

I have been a subscribing member to their bi-annual heating and air service for many years. The technician will typically replace my filter when they come here. I went to replace my filter and realized that the technician had bolted the door shut and I am unable to remove the bolt. When I notified the company of the issue I was told that I would be charged $109 for them to come out and take the bolt off. I told them I really needed to change my filter, and asked if that was the official position of management. I was told yes. The technician did not ask my permission to bolt the door shut and it is not typical practice to bolt the door shut on an AC filter compartment. This company is now trying to charge me for their mistake so I can perform routine upkeep on my AC. I would like the company to come remove the bolt they installed without my permission without paying a service fee to correct their mistake.

Business Response /* (1000, 9, 2022/11/22) */ *******, We are sorry to hear that your experience was less than 5-star service, which is our usual standard. Fortunately, we were able to send a technician out to fix the issue without charge. Our customers and their satisfaction are always our number one priority. We appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to serve you! Respectfully, The Team at Republic Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. Consumer Response /* (3000, 11, 2022/11/24) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Yes, the company did come out, but not for the issue stated. Coincidentally I noticed the bolted door at the same time that my bi-annual service check was due. This is a service that I pay for. Yes the technician confirmed that they had erroneously bolted the door shut and removed the bolt. However, it is disingenuous to say free of charge since it took place during my paid subscription check up. The company did not come out "free of charge" for the issue that I reported.
