We hit a raccoon in out 2016 on September 22, 2023 and our vehicle has been in the shop since. We finally got her back in December and two days later her check engine light came back on so we took the vehicle back to the shop where it was discovered that the honeycomb inside the catalytic converter had been damaged when we went off the road trying to avoid hitting the raccoon. It took the shop and us calling Farm Bureau MULTIPLE times for over 3 and a half weeks before they finally sent an adjuster out to look at the vehicle, Farm Bureau finally said the converter was indeed damaged and needs to be replaced after 2 weeks. Farm Bureau has decided they will pay only $600 for a new converter. The cost of a converter is $2600 for a Mopar part. The shop has stated that they absolutely will not put a cheap generic converter on a high performance vehicle like our Challenger. That will completely mess up the vehicle and is a safety and liability issue and could very likely result in a catastrophic failure with the vehicle as well. It would also void all warranty and warranty on the car repairs. Farm Bureau refuses to return any calls from the shop so they can discuss this issue at hand. I want them to pay for a Mopar part for my car as the Dodge Shop has stated that it is not safe to put a cheap generic part on a high performance vehicle. It will damage the vehicle and will likely result in a catastrophic failure. This is unacceptable that Farm Bureau KNOWINGLY are putting the drivers and people around in other vehicles on the road at risk of serious injury of death due to trying to save $2000.
