On 7/19/22 Vakay Rental held a $500 deposit to rent a RV. We rented the RV and still are waiting on the deposit. I have called/emailed/texted Vakay many times asking about getting my $500 back. I have been giving the run around for 5 months. Every time its a different story as to why it hasn't been refunded. -My kids are sick -The credit card machine is broken -The check was lost in the mail -I'll venmo you the cash now-still haven't received it. I was promised my $500 back for a deposit and have not received it. I have many text messages showing Im owed $500 for my deposit with many excuses as to why I haven't gotten it yet. There are SEVERAL other customers on BBB who also report the same issue. This company is known for "holding" a $500 deposit and NEVER returning the deposit to the customer.Initial Complaint

This company has not returned my deposit of $500.00. The rental was July 18 - 22, 2022, at Jamica Beach RV Resort. There contract states that a deposit will be return within two weeks of the last day of the contract. They have broken their own contract I have email, texted and called them many times and they always state an excuse for not returning the deposit.Customer response

We signed up with Vakay to rent our RV. At first, we had a few weekend rentals and were paid within a week or so. Then they got a long-term rental and ever since, their payments have been consistently 3 or 4 months behind, and if we don't call every month, we won't be paid at all. The first few times Tiffany said it was because their ***** *** was maxed out. We told her that a check, through the mail was fine with us ... that didn't happen. Next she tells us that it's rented through an insurance claim, and the payments lag by 30 days. Then she tells us that the payments lag by 90 days, and in the contract is says that in those circumstances we would be paid after they are paid; the contract has no such clause. After calling and expressing our concerns, now they will not even answer a call from either of our phone numbers. I have called her from a friend's phone, and she answered, so I know her phone is working. Their contract states that they will make sure the RV is returned in the same condition that it left, and that no damage is done, while rented. Our RV has been on a "long term" rental for two years. We have asked for pictures, to ensure that they are doing regular inspections, and have received nothing. They will not tell us where our RV is parked, nor will they return it to us, as we have asked. They said they would buy it from us; more lies. They broke their own contract and will not communicate with us. We sent them a 10 day demand letter, demanding our trailer back; it was ignored. We filed a stolen vehicle report with the *** **** ****** ********* *********** A detective was assigned and visted them. First they told him our trailer would be back on 9/30/22; still don't have it. Then 10/11/22 and they won't tell the detective where it is. During all this, Ron tells the detective that he's been in constant communication with us and he doesn't know why we are mad.Initial Complaint

We rented an RV from Vakay Rentals over Labor Day weekend. They dropped the RV off at El Campo. The RV was run down and dirty. We did not complain. We were never told where the key was located to lock the RV when we went out. No one answered the phone when we called to find an answer about the key. My husband finally found it in a compartment out side the RV. . Vakay Rentals took a $500 deposit from us way before Labor Day weekend as a deposit . This would be returned to us after they received their RV back at the end of the weekend upon inspection. We left the RV better than it was found. Since it was a little dirty the floor was filthy the toilet was broken and the bed was uncomfortable but we did not complain. They made us pay the day that we received the RV a fee of $620 for the three night rental. They said it would take about 14 business days to receive our $500 deposit back. Well, we have been waiting for it still . We have sent them numerous emails with no response. I was told that they had a problem with their credit card machine (it was hacked) and were unable to refund us by credit card. My husband was told that that was not the case and they were keeping our money because we chose to keep it on file for future rentals. That was not the case. Then I was told by Mr. Green that he would send us a cashiers check for the balance due to the broken credit card machine. Anyway over a month later we still have not received our money. We have emailed them very professionally non-threatening emails. I have called and left messages. I have left text messages also and nothing. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Very bad business ethics.
