RCH Water Supply Corporation is a privately owned water company serving the North Central Texas area in the southern portion of Rockwall County. I recently received a $2,000 water bill from them and after confirming with multiple plumbers that there was no leak, RCH offered only one remedy - have the meter reader tested, however, we would be charged $500 if nothing ended up being wrong with it. So, despite that our average water usage is nowhere near 125,000 gallons and multiple plumbers confirmed no leak, we were still subject to pay the $2,000 bill or our water would be shut off. No relief, assistance or empathy whatsoever. $2,000 is more than our mortgage and obviously not something we could have budgeted for. We have no swimming pool and no sprinkler system. I turned to the Rockwallian Facebook page out of desperation and found others who had something similar happen to them and even an ex-RCH employee who commented that she had recently quit because they were "robbing people blind." I just don't think that what they are doing to people is ethical, and they will continue to do it if we let them. While I would love to hire an attorney to fight this, my family needs water and we're now on an extremely tight budget. I pray that this reaches them and that they never put such a heavy burden on anyone else. PS - My water usage and bill were magically back to normal the next billing cycle...
