Negligence and ************** Practices by BYOP Dear Better Business Bureau,I am writing to formally express my deep concern and dissatisfaction with the service performed on January 30, 2024, on our 2013 ***** Malibu by BYOP, totaling $2716.41. The service was supposed to include the replacement of shocks, struts, and various other components. However, upon inspection, we discovered that the sway arm/control arm was not reattached and has remained unattached for several months. The unattached control arm has visibly damaged other parts of the vehicle, demonstrating negligence since BYOP worked on our car's suspension. This oversight posed a serious risk to road safety, compromising the vehicle's stability and safety. Such negligence could have resulted in severe accidents, endangering not only us but the broader community. The control arm is essential for the vehicle's suspension, providing stability and alignment. Its absence can lead to severe safety hazards, including loss of vehicle control, accelerated wear on other components, and increased risk of collisions. Moreover, due to this oversight, we recently had to purchase two wheel bearings to address the resulting wear and tear, as evidenced by the attached receipts. We demand compensation for these parts and labor as a gesture of restitution for your negligence. This experience has severely undermined our trust in BYOP. Despite having warranties on all parts, I now consider them worthless due to this breach of trust. I will never return to BYOP for any services, regardless of warranty validity.Given the severity of this issue, we insist on immediate restitution and a written acknowledgment of the steps BYOP will take to resolve this matter. We expect prompt attention to this complaint to ensure fair compensation for the risks and inconveniences caused.

To whom it may concern: please let the record reflect the customer did not communicate any of the issues mentioned in the shared complaint. However, some time ago,  upon receipt of a chargeback notice, a byop representative did attempt to initiate and communicate with the customer in the hopes to offer a resolution with any concerns the customer was experiencing.  Instead upon our initiation of a phone call the customer disconnected the call with our agent.  Our goal was and is to resolve any issues the customer was experiencing.  I will forward a copy of the letter/response that was mailed to the customer and the credit card processing company. Please let the record reflect after careful review of our rebuttal and invoices the credit card company did rule in our favor and did not honor the credit card refund. The customer did not take advantage of any written warranties, did not convey any issues with bring  your own parts, and our policy does not offer to pay third party repair facilities (as noted in the attached document).  Our goal was to assist in resolving any issues the customer was having, we did  not deny the customer any services or warranty related services, the customer chose to take vehicle to another repair facility and the other repair facility performed a completely other repair that is non associated with the paid repairs from byop.  the customer provided a copy of a wheel bearing you will find byop did not perform wheel bearing repairs.  if you need any further information please do not hesitate to let me know.  furthermore if the customer is experiencing any issues with any of the items listed on the paid receipt I will be more than willing to resolve any warranty related issues as quickly as possible.  thank you in advance for your consideration.

Car was towed to this repair shop for work to be done on it. Because it was cheaper than most other places. I was quoted $1195. I was charged $1537 period the alternator needed to be replaced and a belt, but when I got it back. I had a whole slew of other issues. My air conditioner wasn't working no Refrigerant in the ** assume because they told me they were gonna take it out but I don't think they put it back in, and they said they didn't take it out. But the cap where you put the freon in was gone, and it's always been on there. Also I have a bunch of warning lights coming on Such as check power steering system, Check a b s, , Check stabilitrack, And the battery light comes on showing that the voltage is at seventeen point which is very, very high and my battery is like extremely hot. So I've had to disconnect it so the car is not Connected to the battery, so it does not blow up my battery or ruin my electrical system. I cannot drive my car and has been sitting here since they gave it back to me on saturday. I can't get ahold of them because their mailbox is full and nobody is returning. My phone call, nobody is answering my emails.

On March 15, 2013 I took my SUV to Bring Your Own Parts LLC to have the lower control arms replaced. I was quoted $299 per arm. I accepted the estimate and left the vehicle at the shop. Later I was called by the shop and was informed that the struts needed to be replaced and that not replacing the struts would cause the lower control arms to fail. I asked do I need to wait until I can replace the struts to install the lower control arms? The service adviser said that it was OK to replace the arms and to keep in mind that the structs need to be replaced. Later I as called and informed that the vehicle was ready to be picked up. I was received by a different service person who said that the vehicle was in good condition and to keep in mind their recommendations. My SUV was parked by the service adviser on the dirt, so I could not inspect the vehicle at the shop. When I arrived at home, I noticed oil in the inside of the front passenger tire. I though this was the oil used by the mechanic to loosen the parts of the lower control arms. Since the oil started to puddle, I decided to investigate further and noticed that there was brake fluid leaking between the caliper and the brake hose. I added more fluid to the brake system and drove my SUV to a ********* for an emergency repair of the brake line. ********* informed me that the brake line needed to be replaced and that the brake pads were in contact with the brake fluid and needed to be replaced as well. I think Bring Your Own Parts should pay for the brake system repairs because they caused the problem.

      To whom it may concern:
Please let the record show the only repairs performed to the vehicle were the repairs the customer requested. Specifically, the customer requested to remove and replace both lower control arms. As for any additional repairs it is standard practice to make recommendations or let the customer know about any obvious issues. The customer declined any further repairs whether the repairs were recommended or needed at that particular time.
I would like to emphasize if the customer is having any issues with the actual work completed, I will be more than happy to take care of any warranty issues the customer might be experiencing. I would also like to encourage the customer to reach out and let me know if this is the case.  However, for any unrelated repairs, without being given an opportunity to assess and evaluate the customers' concerns makes it difficult to know exactly what the issue was or what the issue is. ****************** has never contacted us to let us know he was having issues if he would have called us and let us know he was having issues and would have given us an opportunity we would have corrected the problems at no charge we cannot pay another shop to perform work we can perform at no charge. Plus, if it was something we created as he states in his complaint even more reason for me to take care of those issues for him at no extra costs. Also, there's no documentation from ********* stating that we created the issue only his opinion again he should have just contacted us so we could make good on anything we owed him.
The brake hoses in question have at least ****** miles, basically, the brake hoses have excessive wear and tear.
Please let me know if you need any further information to resolve this matter. Thank you for your time and consideration.
      Thanks

I visited them to see why my vehicle was making a loud noise at the rear of the vehicle while driving. they told me it would be $97.50 to diagnose. I agreed and left them with the vehicle. They called and told me after test driving it and furthur diagnosis they confirm it needed a new wheel bearing and It will cost $636 to repair. i agreed to the repair. they called me the next day and said the vehicle was ready. upon pick up the noise was still there, i asked why was the noise still there and they told me the noise is from the rear end and it will cost around $2500 plus tax to fix. I asked why they told me it was the bearings and they said they thought it was. I asked if i can see what they repaired and they declined. I asked for a refund of the diagnosis fee and they declined. I asked to see a break down of parts and labor and they declined. They are rip-offs! Common day snake oil salesmen.

Please let the record show, all work performed was authorized before any work was completed.  Also, I will include a copy of the additional recommended repairs report provided to him.  Also, *******************************, not only physically inspected the issues in person, but also received photos.  He declined any additional repairs and we made notes on his final invoice reflecting the additional work the vehicle still needed.

Please let the record show, ******************************* also acknowledged the rear end issues & some of the recommendations were in fact preexisting issues.

During the repair process, we do provide the owner with actual photographs of any mechanical damage the vehicle may have in addition to showing the customer the damage or recommendations in person.  I have also included these pictures for your review.

Unfortunately, I do not believe the owner is entitled to a refund or credit at this time. However, would like to extend a proposal, if the customer is experiencing any issues with the actual work completed, I will make it a priority to check at no cost to the customer.
