In February-March 2023, we asked ***** to create a wedding band for me using diamonds and gold that I had in other rings. He agreed that could be done and had a design created in CAD that I paid $350 for. Then I gave him an old engagement and wedding ring to use to create the ring. He did not provide a value for those items or an estimate for the finished product. When I picked up the ring in an emotionally elevated state, the ring looked great but he told me then that he didnt use the round brilliant stones I had but put better ones in (without informing me first ) . Then he strengthened the posts on my engagement ring and made it a bit smaller. Then he said I needed to give him a gold ring from my jewelry and that he would keep the old wedding set w the brilliant stones and a .75 good diamond ( I have an old appraisal for the ring) in trade. I thought this meant I wouldnt be paying anything for the ring. But when I took out 4 gold rings for him to choose from, he took them all I was stunned but again thought this would pay in full. But he asked for a $649.50 payment also. In my joyful about-to-be-a bride state, I paid it and asked for a receipt. He gave me a handwritten paper w scratch on it (attached) that made no sense. I later requested a good receipt that told me costs minus value of each item of mine he took, so I could get insurance for the ring. When he left the country, he left what he called a receipt (attached) but it does not detail costs or value of the trade items. I feel ***** took advantage of our trust and emotional state - taking more than he should in exchange, not communicating well about not using my stones or values of items. And in the end, I dont have an accounting for anything. Harrys scratch receipt doesnt match anything on the final one. I tried to reconcile it all to make sense of it (attached) but could not. I tried contacting him again to get the correct accounting for costs and value of trade but he would not respond.
