Business advertised $89 dryer vent cleaning. Tech said it would take $318 MORE to clean my vent because there was "hard" debris keeping him from cleaning it out. He said there was a blockage required chemical to break it down. NONE of the debris that came out of that vent was different, BUT he did break my vent hose connection to the roof so it looks like he didn't have the right equipment OR he was incompetent in the use of that equipment. Ultimately, he asked for $480 for the service! I did not realize that they had been to my house before for another "special", chimney AND dryer vent cleaning for $119. Again, when the company showed up they said it would actually cost $600+ to do BOTH jobs. However, since they were already at my house they would do it for $500. I declined their service/quote and wouldn't have used them this time if I knew it was the same company.Also, since the tech COULD NOT replace the top of my vent properly, it has the potential to blow over leading to water leaking into the house, so I'll need to contact a roofer to figure out how they can fix that OR I will need to climb up there and fix it myself! Ultimately, they are either performing a bait and switch scam OR they are woefully incompetent to do the work for the advertised rates.
