**************** produced a ********************* agreed to the scope of ************ on 7/5/23. I gave a $10,000 dep. on 7/5 & agreed to progress payments commensurate with the % of work completed would be made with 1/3 withheld until completion. Work started on 7/7. On 7/13/23, he requested $5,000 claiming a progress payment was due, I went to look & work was not as represented. I expressed displeasure with quality of work & progress- he responded that most would be finished within two days. I paid him $5000 on July 14th & again expressed displeasure. He assured me all would be corrected. Next visit revealed substantial issues; I requested a meeting for Mon. 7/17 at 10:30 AM. I waited 2 hours, and sent texts, but he never arrived. He texted requesting payment for chance order. We arranged to meet on Wed. 7/19 at 10:30AM. He did not show & asked to meet on Thurs. at 10:30AM. He did not show, but agreed to meet at 2pm. I explained that I was not happy with quality & progress of the work, & showed him a spreadsheet of the % of work complete vs. the payments. He demanded $2,195 for the chance order, insisted that work was complete & wanted $5,000 payment. I agreed to pay $2,195 but would not make another payment until work was complete & to generally acceptable standards. The contract called for him to pay for tile. Friday, after we selected & agreed on tile he refused to pay so I paid rather than cause a scene in the store. On Exit, he demanded another $5,000 claiming he made a mistake on the contract, that he was out of money, & handed me a marked-up copy claiming it was "mostly complete" & telling me to look it over. I told him I would look at progress & review the document. Nobody was at house, work was substantially same as it had been 3 days earlier. I texted him & asked why nobody was there. His response : I got mad at them yesterday. ******** crew did not show up for the next 3 days. I terminated & demanded refund: he refused.
