I hired J and R because we had a flood in the house and needed multiple rooms fixed. I have paid them $16,000 and after a full month not one room is done. He keeps changing the finish date. This started on 10Dec22. He said he could have it done by 26Dec, then 3Jan, then 7Jan, and now he is demanding another 3K on top of everything saying I went over budget. I went with the least expensive. I asked for itemized receipts and he won't show them. He sends men who aren't doing a good job. He is trying to make me pay for materials myself and go buy them myself and pick them up myself on top of paying him. I am unsure if he is paying some of his workers because one man stayed in my house an extra 3 hours trying to contact him to get paid and some ****** reviews say he doesn't pay his people. I just want my home fixed. I can't let the plumber dig under my house to fix the broken pipe until this is done so no one gets hurt. Lately he has done even less to fix my home. He keeps putting off meeting me and becomes a keyboard warrior through text but all agreement on the phone or in person. I have to harass him to come to my home and see the 'progress'. It took 3 tries and 5 days before he finally came. His guy only worked 1 hour today and left. I've spoken to others and everyone says I am getting ripped off because the job being done shouldn't even cost 16K because they have had more done for far less. Every chance he gets, he keeps asking for more money. He even said I would have to pay an extra $100 to glue my floors down because it doesn't come with the material so it is extra acting as if tile comes with grout and mortar... Outlets are hanging out of walls, nails and carpet tacking and razor blades are strewn ************* when workers leave. My husband and I have cut ourselves at least twice on debris. I've already had to pay for a master bedroom vanity and paint on top of what he has been paid. Out of 6 rooms, none are done. I am so frustrated.Business response

Hello, my name is *****, I am a representative with J&R Construction & Painting. I wanted to respond to some allegations made against our company. As far as not room is done this is untrue. We complete each project by doing the individual job. The project included flooring, drywall installation, tape and float, texture, paint, as well as pluming and appliance installation in the restrooms. We have completed all of the drywall installation, tape and float, texture, and paint. We have completed all of the flooring except the hallway. We have attempted to complete the plumbing and appliance installation but the customer wanted to return the vanity and buy it using her military discount. This is the reason she has bought material herself. As far as charging her 3K on top of everything this is untrue. We are charging her the agreed amount that was on the proposal. The customer wanted to keep $3,000 of the insurance money and that is the reason shes complaining about getting charged and extra. The customer also stated that she went with the least expensive and then later on states that shes getting ripped off and that people have told her shes getting overcharged. I dont know if shes complaining about J&R being too cheap or too expensive, but either way we charged her the appropriate amount to complete the job. As far as claims that J&R doesnt pay workers, that is untrue. The worker she is referring to is the electrician, and he got paid in full. There was already an agreement for him to get paid at the end of the day and he was contacting the contractor ahead of schedule. As far as putting off meeting there was only one day where the contractor couldnt meet with the customer and it was due to other jobs J&R has going on. As far as the job not getting completed in the time originally discussed, first is because we are not able to work to show up to the project until 2 PM. The other reason is because her home is filled with more personal belongings than the average home. The customer stated that she would move them herself and she didnt. As far as tthe issues with the carpet, the customer wanted to add two extra rooms to the proposal but keep the same price. She said she would remove the carpet herself so if there is any debris from issues with the carpet it came from her. We were still trying to complete the project but because of her complaints and her not paying the second payment in full we have not completed it. Until we receive the full payment to continue paying our workers we will not be able to proceed per our contract.
