I would put negative dtars if i could. This company is beyond shady. They were sent by our warranty company, took a week to come out. Said the part would take 1 week to come in. Took 2 weeks. Then the tech said it was the wrong part. We call to speak to warranty company who calls American and they said - no it's not the wrong part there is an additional part needed. Today we get an email with repair break down, and they are needing to order the same part they said they were ordering 3 weeks ago. And will be another 2 weeks before it's in. So total of 7 weeks at this point, no AC, in *****, in June, with young children. I can't even find the words for my level of anger and frustration.

*AVOID* My initial request to have my ** units evaluated was on May 17, 2024. The service journey lasted 25 days before the work was complete and cooling completely restored to my property. American Air Conditioning & Heating (American) seemingly focuses their business on home warranty companies or that was my impression, and based on the previous reviews (all sites) defers all the blame for their poor service, poor communication, and grossly inadequate customer support back to the customer and/or home warranty company. Admittedly, there are numerous issues with home warranty companies, but I will address those in a separate review. However, American provided horrible customer service - they rarely answer their phones, are extremely rude when you talk to anyone other than a receptionist, do not return calls from voice mails, never responded to one email, provided me with inaccurate and misleading information, and some of their business practices are questionable to include: illegitimate out-of-pocket charges reported to my warranty company and me, failing to take measurements prior to disassembling the ** unit resulting in my home being without any ** or even a fan for an addition week costing me hundreds of dollars in. rental cooling equipment, and forcing me to pay prior to the work being completed. As for the bogus charges they told me and my home warranty company I had to pay, these charges totaled almost $1,000 and included duplicate equipment and charges for two separate permits (for the same work) that I verified with the City of *********** and *********** that were not required. American takes zero responsibility or accountability for anything and shifts blame to the consumer and/or home warranty company. Just look at their management's response to the complaints on here and other review sites...they legitimize all the negative reviews. The ** BBB rating is certainly warranted.Recommendation: AVOID American Air Conditioning and Heating.

My a/c hasnt been cooling my house and I filed a claim with American Home Shield. The first HVAC technician from this company barely looked at the equipment, said I had a small leak which leaked out all my freon and charged me almost $500 for it. After he left, I had my a/c running for an hour or so and noticed my house wasnt cooling down but in fact heating up. I filed a second claim with American Home Shield and they sent out a second HVAC technician from this company and he said I had a possible power surge which burned out my compressor and several components. Because of his BS claim American Home Shield wont cover it meaning I would have to pay out of pocket. I know for a fact that I didnt have a power surge because there was no lighting that hit my house, I never smelled anything burning, and everything else in my house works. They ripped me off $500 and DIDNT fix it right the first time.

Stay away from this company! They came out back a year ago, broke something upstairs, claimed it was the previous company, ironically, they had been the previous company. When I informed the dispatcher she was rude said to get myself a 2nd opinion! Called her non stop for two days and they wouldnt answer. AHS sent someone and fixed the issue. Fast forward to today, 01 Aug 23, I got a phone call from them about my new service request, I about had a heart attack! The trauma, the thought of living that nightmare all over again came gushing in. Really, after all youve put me through the last time and you think ** going to let you waltz into my home again! Id rather pay out of pocket before allowing these crooks into my home! *** repeatedly told AHS to put them on the do not send list so once that was clarified they sent someone else. To my surprise the dispatcher from American Air Conditioning had also called AHS and requested they not get the service request. Funny how that worked out! I guess the feelings were mutual! I had AHS send someone else. AHS needs to due its due diligence and verify these people before sending them out. Some contractors will go around collecting the service fees and doing poor work. Then if its not feasible, because AHS doesnt pay enough they drop you like a hot potatoe and tell you to go request a second opinion. AHS is a scam for many people! My message to the contractors, if you cant do your job competently because of pay, then dont do work for AHS!
