            This company installed a completely new AC unit in a historic home last winter. The system is completely inadequate to keep the house cool when it gets above 88 degrees. As an architect myself, I know about sizing and load calculations. It appears that they took their "best guess" to size the unit. I understand that the unit should run sufficiently to get the humidity out of the house, but it does not keep up at such low temperatures and runs nearly 24 hours per day. While I am sure this is what he is used to installing in similar sized houses, it is not sufficient for the the heat load generated by a historic house that is not insulated and has only single panel windows. Besides the overall sizing of the unit, the plenum and ducting is way too small for at least 3 rooms, of the rooms (where there are 3 sides exposed. We asked him to evaluate, since it is still under warranty. He was unwilling to fix the problem, which would involved resizing the ducts and/or the unit.

            Do not trust this ***** Barela fella...he will burn you somehow - someway. Either by underperforming or flat out lying to you. Whether it is his HVAC company or his renovation company, you will be not just disappointed but likely upset after your experience with him.
