I am a Notary Business and cannot notarize my own documents so I went to the *** store to notarize my Affidavit. Its the same form I always take to this location. The notary inside *** store **** was not knowledgeable of her her duties, behaved highly unprofessional, refused to provide store manager info, her name, notary ID number. She refused to initial additional remark on document indicating it was added prior to her notarizing although in the beginning she said she would. She then said she would notarize document only without adding her initial. I stated that was fine but I will have to forward this to report the transaction. Notary stated: "If you are going to report this, I am not signing anything!" I asked her to repeat what she had just stated to ensure I heard correctly. She repeated the same thing stating she would not notarize my affidavit because I was going to report it. I then overheard her call to the manager in which she lied about what was happening. She then stated out of nowhere she is calling the police. I asked on what grounds because I hadn't done anything wrong or behaved in a manner that authorities should be notified. I then agreed that it was best if she called the police so a record of the incident could be recorded. As I waited and waited, I notice she refused to call the police she said she would call. When I asked if she would call like she insisted to please let me know because I had to get back to my office for waiting clients. She refused to answer. After a while, I left, went to my office and contacted the police for record of incident. The notary's coworker stated that her name was ***** but that was all she knew. As result of her actions, I have to now request via mail another set of documents to have notarized because she had me signed the documents in her presence prior to notarizing but then refused to notarize. I am out of time and money.Business response

Customer came to the ********************** to get documents notarized. Customer wanted Notary to Initial the document where the customer had previously written something. Notary stated that she can not initial the text because it was pre written by the customer and it is not something that the Notary has written or corrected. At this point the customer became condescending and disrespectful towards the employee. She started raising her voice and creating a scene. The customer started telling other customers waiting in line that the employee does not know what she is doing, she should not be the notary and she will report her to the ***************** etc.
At this point, employee called the manager to tell him about the customer issue. The Manager advised the employee not to get in any arguments/altercation with the customer and tell the customer to leave the premises and to get her Notary done at some other business. So the Notary refused to do her notary and told her to get her documents notarized somewhere else. The employee did not feel comfortable doing her notary as the customer kept on disrespecting her, interfering with other customers, threatening to report her and getting her license revoked. The customer kept on standing there and shouting at the employee. At that point, the employee stated that if the customer keeps on interrupting her and not letting her help other customers, she may have to call the police to get her out of the store. The employee started helping other customers as there is always a line at the store. After waiting for a while, the customer left the **********************.
We take customer service very seriously. However, when the customer starts raising their voice and disrespecting the employee, we do not get involved in a "shouting match" or unnecessary altercation with the customer. We respectfully tell the customer to leave the ********************** and let us focus on other customers waiting patiently in line.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:The information therein is not correct or depicts what actually happened. We are licensed and bonded business and hold 8 certifications with the ***** state southern regional accrediting agency. We are highly experienced in notarial acts and also have come to this location on several other occasions to have the exact same document notarized with no issue. The Individual was also not using her own assigned stamp. Further, a customer can write on their own affidavit as much as they wish too up until the signer signs it. A notary notarized that I am who I am by way of presenting identification which I did so. The notary was briefed prior to signing on what needed to happen and agreed but then said sign the journal first. This employee was instructed on what needed to take place prior in which her response was: "okay sign the book first." I requested the manager and she stated she I wasn't going to be talking to him yet I can clearly hear her on the phone with the manager providing him with a totally inaccurate acvount of what was happening. She began whaling her hands in the air, non responsive to my inquiry as to why i was receiving unprofessional treatment. She acvused me of being aggressive qhen I stated: "maam, you must verify that my initials on the document were added prior to my signing." I even asked her why she felt i was being agressive when I was only explaining that she must verify my initials.I asked for the manager contact information, she stated she did not have it yet she called him right in front of me. I asked her name she refused. I asked her notary number, she refused, I asked for copy of journal entry, she refused which is illegal if you are a licensed notary.I am a notary myself. Not a single time did I raise my voice or indicate anything in a demeaning or aggressive tone. She then said I'm calling the police.I stated okay I will wait here and thought that would be a good idea given she had me sign my document which we couldn't get notarized elsewhere at that point and because of how unprofessional the emoyee acted we felt the incident should in fact be on record with witnesses present. Several customers even stated: "What is wrong with her and why was she so angry?" I now have to wait additional time to receive another set of forms through our office. She had me sign then when I stated I would contact the proper entity to explain why the notary had me sign my document but wouldn't verify my additional comment on my affidavit,to cover myself and she stated: "I was going to sign it but since you are going to report it, I'm not notarizing anything." If this employee was acting under proper license guidelines from secretary of state she would not be worried that I would be forwarding the document to the right entities for verification. She then out of nowhere threatens to call the police. I asked on what geounds i dont understand. She refused to answer. When i syed yes that would be best at this point, she became angrier and stopped respo ded to anything. When I asked if she was calling the police or not because I had clients arriving to our office soon, she began to whale her hands in the air signaling "bye". When I asked can you let me know yes or not if you going to call because I didn't want the authorities to show up assuming I left the scene if the Incident, she refused to respond. I needed to be present especially given bizarre treatment as well as me overhearing her tell her manager an inaaccurate account of what was happening. Please keep in mind at no point was i agressive, expressed anger, or spoke loudly. We are trained to maintain professionalism in all situations. It was as if she was attempting to provoke me into becoming irate to justify why she treated me the way she did. I even quoted her procedure because I am a notary. She said she did not care and "oh well." I want a formal complaint executed against this establishment.
