We put a down payment on a head stone in April 2023. The company said it would be four-five months until delivery. The business has refused to respond to emails and phone calls (7) about the status of the headstone, and its now the end of November 2023.Initial Complaint

On 06/07/2021 I arrived at Corner Stone Memorials shopping for a headstone for my son, he had just passed 2 weeks ago. I purchased a headstone paid in full $3139.25 cash. The contract delivery is 36 weeks from the time account was paid in full. That would have been February 14,2022. I still have no headstone for my son's grave. It's been over a year . I actually just noticed the 36 week delivery date on contract today. Corner Stone Memorials is aware of delivery date and refused to refund what I paid to them. I made the office in ******* aware of dates contract number left my name and number I was told that the owner would call me back. I let ****** from ******* office know I was gonna give him a week that I have waited long enough. She agreed. It's been 3 weeks and he still hasn't called. I don't understand why is it taking so long. I also never have gotten a call from Corner Stone Memorials for any update on my sons headstone. I just got tired of waiting and called them although I was hung up on had to drive to Corner Stone Memorials to inquire about headstone. The gentlemen that sold me the headstone won't even speak to me. ****** from their ******* store is who I spoke with today let her know again I just want my money back I'm getting my son's stone else where.Business response

Customer refused several times to sign the drafts provided to her via email, we will attach copies of emails. ************************* also refused to pay setting fees to cemetery, we will also attach our contract where it states that the headstone will not be completed until the design layout has been signed, the cemetery approval has been received, and balance paid in full.Customer response

*************************Yes design was made and not approved due to headstone not being large enough to fit all that was intended to be on the head stone. The gentleman that was making the design is the person that told me that all names **** not fit and he couldn't understand why that size of headstone was sold to me. He said he would get with the other gentleman about switching out for a larger one. Now this wasn't until this year in July that it was discovered names were not going to fit because the actual stone wasn't available for me to see. I was told it was in a crate with other stones. I was constantly calling. I was laughed at hung up on never a call back I had to go in person to get a response. I am attaching my email search which it pulls up 1 email from May of 2022 I don't erase emails ever. Cornerstone Memorials is in breach of their contract. My sons stone was not delivered as told. I didn't change headstone until July 2022 because the headstone was to small. The design has been approved already. Now with that being said I was told even after it is approved it will still take another 3 or 4 months to be finished. I have already gone with another agency to get my sons head stone and after the way I was spoken to hung up on and treaded by Cornerstone Memorial I don't want to do business with them. I have no faith that my sons headstone will be made the way it should after the issues I have had I don't trust Cornerstone to do the work on my sons headstone. Since it was not finished as said in contract it is only right I get a full refund. I am going to add that my brother in law passed, his wife had similar issues as well.

I am rejecting this response because: Not only is Cornerstone Memorials fabricating their side of the story I was at the cemetery on Friday on Saturday I spoke with the supervisor there at ************************ I explain to them the situation I was dealing with with cornerstone memorials and I asked them if cornerstone memorials ever contacted them in regards to my head stone being put in and both women in the office told me no it was never an issue on pain to have it installed the issue has been to get it done and it's still not done the design has been approved since 2021 all we were doing was picking the Bunkie and he are ready was aware of what monkey was going to be on top of that of my sons name I signed the paper when I was there ************ knows that now they have already embarrassed me yelled at me hung up on me and laughed at me they can't wait to see me no I'm sorry but I lost my son there's no kind of compassion there whatsoever they can care less all they care about is keeping my money yes it was specially ordered specially ordered wrong and that was not on me that was completely on them I want nothing more but a refund they can keep their stone and whatever else I want a complete refund and I'll take my business elsewhere because they didn't stand up to their end anyway

****************** never approved the layout with us, never followed through and has since been demanding a refund.
We've been waiting for her to approve the layout, we have the materials, we hope to hear from her soon.

I am rejecting this response because:
Cornerstone did not meet their own deadlines. They have put me off for months with excuses of COVID and being in a crate that the headstone I paid for was unable to get to. The design has never changed since the day I purchased headstone. I have had to constantly call Cornerstone because I never got a call from them. Their email reads September of 2022 which is way past the delivery date and would still be 3 to 4 months later than this. Cornerstone blames me for their mistakes and short comings. Cornerstone sold me a headstone that would not even do what it was intended for. I would have had to replace it later and spend more money I don't have. Cornerstone claimed in previous statement I didn't pay cemetery but they never even spoke to cemetery about stone. I know the difference in the 2 entity's I am not the one who tried to make that an excuse I know cemetery has fee I am aware of fees. Cornerstone was wrong for hanging up on me for laughing at me for yelling at me for owner never returning my calls as if I wasn't already dealing with enough due to my son's death. Cornerstone has no idea what I am dealing with finding my son after 3 days gone lying in an apartment temp at 86 his skin discolored bloated and bodily fluids all over bed like a blood bath having to deal with cleaning, police not knowing what happen and then to bury my son this is the worst feeling in the world all I wanted was my son to have his headstone up like it should have been the way the contract said Cornerstone did not fulfill their part and in the process refuses to take responsibility instead has treated me in a way I should have never been treated. Just a little bit of compassion would have made a big difference. Is my $3139.25 going to put them out of business. No it's not. Why continue to put me through this. I will not do business with Cornerstone Memorials a transaction for a headstone was turned into the most unprofessional and cruel transaction I have had to deal with since my sons death. I keep reliving that moment every day that Cornerstone continues to give me a hard time about this situation. Cornerstone should take responsibility for the way they had no compassion for me after that headstone was paid in full. Cornerstone has no right to keep my money If it was one of them they would feel the same.

I am rejecting this response because:I don't believe Cornerstone is listening to me. I did my part the headstone was never received like Cornerstone said it would be. The date it should have been ready was February 14, 2022 it was not ready when I was called to approve the sketch it was already past that date I was told it would take 3 to 4 more months to even have it finished stop telling me that I didn't pay ************ cemetery or I didn't do this or I didn't do that and start taking responsibility for cornerstone not doing their part now corner stone has laughed at me hung up on me and treated me the way no one should be treated I lost my son but they don't seem to care all they care about is the money not once have I heard an apology. I am not going to do business with corner stone for the last time now I asking for a refund because no one should have to deal with being treated the way they have treated me they're in breach of their contract , if I'm not gonna get a refund from corner stone let me know now that way I can go a different route about getting my money back because I'm not gonna go back and forth again all they're doing is making excuses for them not doing their part it clearly shows in the email it is past the delivery date now again they're in breach of their contract and I want my money back. So with that being said if the next response is not a refund then that'll tell me what I have to do thank you.

****************** never approved the layout with us, never followed through and has since been demanding a refund.
To complete ********************** order with us we need her to comply with paying the setting fee to ************ Cemetery and to approve her layout or to work with us on a layout that she is satisfied with.
She signed a contract that states that we do not do refunds and no cancellations are allowed after the date of order.
It specifically states that the headstone will NOT be completed until the design layout has been signed, the cemetery approval HAS BEEN received.

I am not doing business with a an entity, that their only concern is the money they can care less about their customers they speak to them like they're nobody like they didn't just lose a loved one, I am not doing business with them. It also states in the contract 36 weeks from the day you pay in full they've been in breach of the contract since February 14, 2022. I completely understand the difference that Corner stone and ************ cemetery are two different entities. I know that Cornerstone memorials are making that as an excuse that I haven't paid the sitting fee what am I gonna pay sitting before when you're not even ready with the head stone and like you said in your previous statement that you never contacted them at the cemetery first you do then you don't first it's my fault that I didn't approve the layout now it's my fault again because I haven't paid the sitting fee. You're using that as an excuse. I have no other choice. I'll see you in court.
