Wednesday 1/19/22 I called SA Leadership academy to obtain my daughters diploma. I was told I would get a call back. On Friday 1/21/22 (2days later) I received a call back and was told I would not be able to get the diploma unless me and my daughter both came in person. My problem is I did not agree to these terms and had no knowledge of this arrangement. I also live 4 hours away and work Monday thru Friday, they only schedule meetings for this transaction Tuesdays and Thursdays. My daughter also works two jobs and is not in a position to be asking for days off as she only just began both positions. I have agreed to pay the remaining balance and would even be willing to pay any shipping fees associated SA Leadership has been completely unwilling to make any exceptions nor taking into consideration any of the circumstances stated above. In a time when jobs and schools are being conducted virtually and a large number of businesses have made accommodations for social distancing, it is upsetting that SA LEADERSHIP ACADEMY refuses to make an exception. Without my daughters diploma, she has been unable to obtain her drivers license, unable to apply for any higher education programs and is limited in employment opportunities available to most.Business response

Student who was 16 years old enrolled on August 10, 2021. Since student was underage, parent (mom) had to be present also. As part of the SA Leadership Academy (SALA) requirements, upon completion of program, a notarized affidavit needs to be signed by both the student and the parent. Both student and parent an application which indicated why the afffidavit needed to be signed. SA Leadership Acacemy is a private homeschool program and the affidavit is required as it states that the student did the program and that no one else did the program for her. This is an essential document that MUST BE SIGNED and done in the office.
************** did not enroll her daughter, however, her mom did enroll her daughter and she should have informed the dad of the registration requirements. It is not SALA's fault that the parents are having problems and are not communicating.
In addition, the student was on a payment plan and the 2nd half of the registration fee was supposed to be paid by August 24, 2021. The 2nd half has not been paid and usually students are withdrawn for nonpayment. Howeve, I did allow the student to complete the program.
I don't appreciate the dad blaming SALA when it is the fault of the parents not communicating. However, SALA is going to allow the student to receive her diploma as long as the requirements are met when technically, she should have been withdrawn. As always,
SALA's goal is for all students to continue with their education and achieve their goals.
