We hired American Leak Detection after another plumber ripped open our walls but did not find the leak. American Leak Detection found the leak in a difficult spot to find and made reasonable recommendations to fix it. I will hire them again if I am unfortunate enough to have this problem.Review from Stephen B

Used them based on a recommendation. The employee was very nice. After determining the leak however he said he needed to pressurize the lines. After the water was turned to the house a lot of rust came with it, and a higher up and worse leak above the existing one. Apparently pressuring old home galvanized pipes stresses them out and we find ourselves looking to replace all plumbing now.American Leak Detection of Houston Response

The customer contacted our company because they had an active water leak. The testing that was performed is industry standard and would not cause a problem making it necessary to replace the galvanized water lines. Unfortunately, these galvanized water lines are 60 years old and need to be replaced. Using our infrared thermal camera we located a wet area behind the dishwasher. To pinpoint the leak it was necessary to pressure test as was explained to the customer. The pressure test found a leak in the galvanized water line approximately 4’ above the wet area we found with our infrared camera. An estimate was provided to replace the leaking line from the attic to the bottom of the cabinets.Review from Eva L

My saga with American Leak Detection began in December, 2022 when their tech found 1 leak in my spa. Cost was $350 to diagnose. In January, 2023, while fixing that 1st leak, they found a 2nd leak. Total cost to repair was $4000! Spa continued to leak. In September, 2023, an ALD tech returned and found another leak - which was later found to be an INCORRECT diagnosis. October, 2023, I paid them another $300 to perform another total leak detection even though the original diagnoses were totally wrong. By this time, my small spa was leaking 13 inches per day! Other ALD techs came out and found another leak. They wanted $950 to repair this new leak. After getting a 2nd opinion, it was found that this new diagnosis was also totally incorrect as there was no leak in this latest location. Needless to say, after paying them $4400 for NOTHING, I was done with this company. Leak persisted. But they got my money!!! I felt totally scammed. Buyer beware.American Leak Detection of Houston Response

We performed a leak detection on the spa in December of 2022 and repaired 2 leaks in January of 2023. In September of 2023 we were contacted by the homeowner stating the spa was leaking again. The repairs we made in January were tested and were found to be secure and not leaking. A leak detection was then performed on the spa finding a new leak on the spa returns and a quote of $950.00 was provided. The homeowner agreed to the cost and scheduled the repair. At the time of the repair the leak was not present and there was no charge to the homeowner for this visit. A second crew was dispatched remarking the leak and the original quote of $950.00 was honored. At this time the homeowner declined to go forward with the repair. Our leak detections have a 30 day warranty allowing the customer time to repair any leaks found and monitor to ensure no additional leaks exist. The repairs made on homeowner’s spa are guaranteed for 5 years. The homeowner has an older spa that had leaks in January, another leak in September and may develop additional leaks in the future. While we sympathize with the homeowner we cannot dispatch technicians outside of our warranty at no charge.Review from Shelby F

We recently used American Leak and Detection of Courpus Christi, Tx and they did not follow through woth the services requested. They also will lie to you to get the buck or they truly don't know what they're doing. Was lied to about finding no leak and was told by the technician that went out that they did a camera search. Come to find out by the MANAGER that that was not the case that was done. They DID NOT do a leak detection twst but a hydrostatic test that we DID NOT ask for. Then proceeds to tell us they can not do the test or use the camera to find the leak bevause there is a crack in the clean out!. We are now out $350 for a seevice that was NOT preformed and was given the run around for it. We got scammed out of that money while trying to do a repair to sell pur home. Very unsatisfied woth the service and the customer service provided. They will tell you to do a repair to find other problems. I went with another company who was doing the same service but will find all leaks before needing a repair. They claim the company has been doing this for 50 years but the service does not show. Their charges are out the roof in cost and they truly don't specialize in finding leaks. Find a plumber who can send a camera down and record the video to show you. Don't trust these people, they just want your money. If I could select 0 stars I would.American Leak Detection of Houston Response

An attempt was made to reconcile with Mr. ******. An appointment was scheduled to install the cleanout and perform a hydrostatic test on the portion of the house we could not test earlier due to the cleanout that was leaking. Mr. ****** cancelled and said he had someone else scheduled that told him they did not need to perform a hydrostatic test, they could run a camera to determine if he has leaks or not. Our experience has been it cannot be determined if leaks exist without performing a hydrostatic test.Review from keith h

American Leak Detection came out February of 2021 and did a helium pressure test that indicated leaks in the grout of both skimmers in the underground pool. It took 20 minutes and the charge was $350. A week later they did the repair by chipping out some grout and re-applying. It took 30min and charge was $475. A year and 3 months later when the swim season started, I noticed pretty big drops in the pool level where I had to add water back every 2 days. Probably the leak had been going on for some time when I noticed. I called and they said I was 3 months out of warranty and there was no leeway. Their price for detection had gone up to $450 so I’m out $825 for a repair that lasted barely over one year. They clearly don't stand behind their product.American Leak Detection of Houston Response

On 1/26/21, our technician Shawn was dispatched to Keith Hudson's house to perform a leak detection on his pool. The leak detection included testing both the plumbing and structures in the pool and spa and found both of the pool's skimmer throats leaking. A bid to repair was provided and on 2/9/21, the repair was performed by our technician Matt. Unfortunately we are unable to run a report on Teletrac for this time period to see how long our technician's were on site, however both Shawn and Matt are senior technicians that have been with the company for many years and are consistently thorough and do not rush through jobs. It is very difficult to believe that Shawn was on site for 20 minutes and Matt was on site for 30 minutes. Our leak detections are guaranteed for 30 days and Keith's leak detection is 1 year and 4 months out of warranty. The repair that was performed is guaranteed for 1 year and is 3 months out of warranty. This is the 2nd swim season since our testing and repairs were performed and also a major freeze occurred that caused many problems in the Houston area. There are reasons warranties are in place and extending them weeks to a month is common practice but expecting us to extend the warranties to 1 year and 4 months is unrealistic and unfair.
