My 4000sqft house needed to be painted, so I searched for painting contractors. My search on this app led me to Dan E****** from Veterans Painting and Home Repair in The Colony. On every post asking for a painting reference, Dan actively marketed his business. It was only because of the veteran status that I contacted him. He gave us a quote, asked for a 40% deposit, and said the job would be completed in two weeks. A deposit of $4000 was paid. The following week, he began working. Each day he came to work late (twice in the afternoon) and only had one worker in our house. I will post videos and pictures of the work he did in the comments. During one week, only two rooms were prepped and only the trims sprayed with paint along with one door, which was a measly job. When we confronted him, he took off in a rage. I've texted him since then, but he never replies, and when I call to get our deposit back, he sneers and uses racial slurs. I haven't been able to get my money back since he too

      Business response

      02/03/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 9, 2021/10/09) */ I did receive a deposit for the job for miss ********. The deposit is non refundable as I explained it is to hold the dates. The deposit was used to buy materials for the job which came to be roughly to be roughly $2300. The 1st 2 days that I worked for Is her I ran around getting paint samples and painting large scale scale paint samples on the wall 3' by 3' 5 of them. That's why I got to work on my Project the painting of the house. They had me chopped up doing bits and pieces of the house at a time not her traditional painting method. I did prep both rooms laying paper down on all the floor. I sprayed all the doors and trim and Crown molding which was 20' up in the air and the other Crown molding was 18' in the air. I worked a good 3 solid days on that preparation. Yes the door got messed up I had a malfunction with my spray gun. I explained to them both not to worry it was easily fixed. I never once said a racial slur I am not racist. I do have a small claims court filed in Lou of defamation of character. There's no proof that I said a racial slur which I didn't. She got on next door and If talk false accusations against me I have many good reviews from next door some people came to my defense even. They never gave us a chance. I proved quite a few expenses during this picture. I was never offered the opportunity to go make it right and paint my job which I was hired for. I am a good honest man. If anyone out there doubts by service to my country all I have to do is ask I will show my DV phone 214. Consumer Response /* (3000, 11, 2021/10/25) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) We paid Mr Dan E****** from Veterans Painting and Home Repair a total of $6211 ($4000 as 40% deposit + $2211 for Paint). There was no contract. We just received the receipts of payments from him. Attached. Mr. Dan was paid $4000 as deposit which he deposited on 8/30/2021. During the payment of the deposit, he never informed me that this was going to be treated as non-refundable. There was no mention of booking his dates. In fact, when we informed him that we will not continue with him, he mentioned that he will itemize his costs and return the rest of the deposit. He also mentioned this in his text message that I am attaching. We also paid him an ADDITIONAL $2211.00 which he deposited on 9/2/2021. This payment was for the paint he bought. So in total we paid him $6211. The $2300 that he mentions in his reply to buy the materials is incorrect. We are yet to see the itemized costs from him. I am attaching both his text message and the screenshots of the checks he deposited During the time in this project, Mr. Dan worked on painting the baseboards, crown molding and a door for two rooms. Every single area had paint dripping. If there was a problem in his tools, he should have stopped and fixed it rather than proceeding with the same tools. This was one of the main reasons we said we will not continue with him. Another reason was his speed of work. He said he will finish the entire project in 2 weeks and he was not able to complete 5% of his work in one week. When we gave him the deposit, he said he will have a crew of three to get the job done. He never had 3 people in the house. Moreover, he was always late to arrive for work When he was informed that we will not continue, he was extremely disrespectful and used some swear words The claim that he worked to paint the samples was part of his commitment to us. It took him 30 mins to paint the samples. Pictures attached. Therefore his claim that he was running errands for us and it took him long time to paint the samples of paint is incorrect. We did not interfere in his plan of painting the house. He asked us which rooms he wanted us to get painted first and we gave our preference. Thats all we did. We left a review on Nextdoor and Facebook and found other folks who had similar experiences. His review on Facebook also has a comment from a person with similar experience. Screenshots attached We also came to know that he charged us more for paint than what he purchased from Sherwin Williams. He didnt provide the original receipts. He had said he will pass on the discounts he gets as a contractor but he did not. When I was speaking with Mr Dan on phone, he said F!@#!ing Indians and said more things on Indians coming to America. My only response was, Excuse me!, Excuse me!. I was little shaken. I am attaching all the documents that support my claim. I would like to get our money back from Mr. Dan E******. If he has incurred expenses, then he can itemize it and provide us the original receipts. This was his committment to us when we got the job cancelled.
